About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel and meet amazing people, in order to both explore the world and myself.

ABOUT ME

I'm a Norwegian/French banker who works and lives in Oslo.

I am neither extravert, nor introvert, which in practice means that I enjoy listening more than I enjoy talking, but also I am not the one who usually stays quiet. I often smile and laugh a lot. As much as I love spending time with people, both new and old friends, I also love spending time alone just listening to music, reading, or going for a walk. I am tidy, organised, and I like to think that I am culturally aware.

PHILOSOPHY

My philosophy in life is that it is too short for us to just play the role of a bystander. I feel it is important to take an active role in life, to create your own opportunities. If not you are prone to be a victim to whatever the universe throws at you and all you can do is to react. Taking responsibility enables you to learn from bad experiences, see your own faults and figure out how things can be done differently in the future.

I always try to challenge and develop my own way of thinking, seeing that the world is full of nuances and that everyone have their own perspective on things. This I do by reading and engaging in discussions, which again explains my love of traveling and meeting new people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Never used CS before, but my friends have and they only tell positive things about this community. Now that I have moved to a new city (Oslo), I wish to take part in more of the CS activities and events.

Interests

I am passionately interested in music, books, food, training and martial arts. I love reading and learning about politics, the world social order, and the history, evolution, and psychology of men. I try to educate myself so that I get a better understanding of why the world is as it is, what our challenges are as a human species and try to work up my own personal opinions of what can be done to help those who are less fortunate on this planet.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music is one of my greatest passions. I listen to just about anything, but my absolute favourite genre is house, tech house, deep house, garage, chillstep and ambient. I started learning how to DJ a couple of years ago, and I absolutely love it. But don't be fooled by the heavy beats, I can enjoy jazz, blues, classical and even opera at any day of the week.

I love movies which makes me form new opinions about different aspects of life, or any movie with a reasonable plot and a great scenography and soundtrack. A good comedy is always welcome too. Examples of movies I like: Intouchables, The Pianist, The Green Mile, Amelie, City of God, Requiem for a Dream, Get Him to the Greek (most movies with Jonah Hill in it), and Anchorman.

In books I love historical novels, historical biographies, or books on the evolution of man and society. Examples of books I like: Napoleon (Herman Lindqvist), Roma (Steven Saylor), and Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind (Yuval Noah).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I've experienced so far in life was my studies abroad. It was a period in my life where everything evolved around hanging out with my best friends, learning new ideas (most importantly learning how to challenge old ones), and having a platform where I could try, fail and grow as a person. My travels around Asia has truly been a continuation of that experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have long been doing martial arts like karate, kickboxing, and MMA. Perhaps I can offer a speed course in self-defense? Also I speak fluent French, Norwegian, and English, all languages I would be happy to help you learn!

I love cooking, and am very keen to learn new recipes, especially those from other food cultures.
