ABOUT ME

We are two not-yet-thirty-year-olds from The Netherlands. Erik is a photographer and graphic designer by profession who loves eating olives and playing the piano, and Janaica a marketing coordinator into healthy living and dance.

We're an international couple and speak fluent English. Non-smokers, tidy, responsible, love travelling and the US and Canada in particular.

Erik says:
I am a optimistic and positive person and believe in an altruïstic lifestyle. If I can help, share, teach, assist or just be there, I will. Just make sure you don't need me in the morning... ;)

I love to cook so if I can help out in the kitchen i’m happy. Oh, and what Erik said about mornings... :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Erik says:
I've surfed my fair share of couches. Went to Canada and the US and met wonderful, inspiring and downright mental people willing to share their home with me. Some of them even became friends for life!

Janaica says:
None none none. I’m a couchsurfing virgin.

Music, Movies, and Books

Erik says:
I'm a huge horror movie nerd. Anything from the Italian classics to latter day Korea. I've seen more movies than any sane man should. I love European art house cinema as well.
I love reading! Mostly sci-fi and fantasy novels. Some of my favourite authors are Milan Kundera, Haruki Murakami, Terry Pratchett & China Mieville.
My friends call me a walking heavy metal encyclopedia. I've been into (extreme) metal for the past 20 years! I've played in (mostly) black metal bands and work as a photographer and art designer for a lot of well known metal acts. For the past decade I've been exploring electronic music as well, focusing on the German scene.

Janaica says:
I don'€™t have a real musical preference. I can enjoy anything, as long as I don'€™t have to hear it 24/7. Then everything gets on my nerves eventually.
My all time favorite movie is "Memento" and I always enjoy Grease when it’s on. Especially when there'€™s room to dance :D.
When I read books it'€™s mostly thrillers... and those sappy, actrocious chick lits.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Doing a European tour as an adult with one of the bands I grew up on as a kid.

Erik says:
I can teach you about photography, photo editing, studio lighting and strobing, video editing and shooting movies, playing the piano and the drums. I can help you with your gadgets, set up your computer and advise you on audio and video in general.

Janaica says:
I love baking. I/We can make fresh bread, awesome pancakes , delicious cheesecakes and the meanest carrot cake you’ll ever taste. If you play your cards right, I’ll leave you my secret recipes. They’ll be the hit of every party. I promise. ;)
