Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm couchsurfing to get in touch with new cultures and people. The best way to get to know a new city is by talking to the locals. They can show you the hidden gems not just the tourist attractions and that's what really makes a city, the small details. I like sharing these with others while they visit my city and learning this from others when I visit other cities. I love seeing the light and excitement in people's eye when they visit my city for the first time and taking it all in. It lets me experience the city for the first time all over again.

Interests

I love doing just about anything that involves the outdoors: rock climbing, caving, hiking, etc. In Denmark, some of my best days have involved sitting around at parks with my friends. I also really enjoy exploring new areas or sitting at home with a good book and knitting. I'm a bit of an introvert so I enjoy my alone time but I also love being around people.

I'm also a little bit of a Netflix addict. I love binge watching shows. Reign, Hannibal, Modern Family, Archer, Rick and Morty, Friends, New Girl, Game of Thrones, Orange is the New Black, Dexter, American Horror Story, Gossip Girl (the books also!), The Paradise, Arrow, Freaks and Geeks

My favorite movie is Mr. Nobody. Some of my other favorites are Watchmen, The Perks of Being a wallflower (the book too!), Jackass (1-3), Casablanca, Shutter Island, The Notebook, Stick It, The bucket List, Second Hand lions

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was a member of a small tree climbing expedition to Madagascar to help teach local researchers tree climbing techniques and to set up a class for future Cornell University students to come to Madagascar and learn to climb trees, while also experiencing the rich culture of Madagascar. While I was tree climbing in Ranomafana national park I saw a group of critically endangered lemurs in the tree next to mine which was in an area thought previously to not be in their natural range.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to knit or crochet. Maybe I can even share some of my knowledge about the environment, ecology and environmental stewardship. I can share some obscure facts that I've learned from watching documentaries.

I'm currently working on becoming better at cooking so I'd be happy to cook or even learn some new techniques. I love learning about different cultures and ways of life. I want to try to see things from another person's perspective.
