Overview
About Me
I am a young 38 year old do-gooder--I run a sweet little nonprofit nonprofit and work my ass off, and try to reward myself accordingly. My husband and I have both been playing rugby for decades, have 2 lovely daughters who are 18 and 13 (who are staying home while we travel, as children should), and thoroughly enjoy funny, kind people from all walks of life. I grew up in California and am passionate about liberal politics and social justice, but can keep my opinions to myself unless someone is loudly racist. In that scenario I have no ability to keep my mouth shut.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We are working on living our values and dreams and traveling more. For starters, my husband and I are hoping to travel to Ireland and the UK for the Rugby World Cup in October. It will be my first time in Europe and we need to do it on the cheap. We'd love to spend the bulk of our money on food, drink, and fun, and don't plan on sleeping too much anyways, so no hotel is needed. We love meeting people from around the world, and have loved hosting rugby players from all over over our rugby careers.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I love me a bunch of Canadian hipsters-- Dan Mangan, Elliott Brood, The Rural Alberta Advantage, Hey Rosetta, etc. Also Modest Mouse, Of Monsters and Men, The Head and the Heart, and that sort. Also the essence of my pubescence-- The Cure, The Smiths, and the like. And some hip hop.
Movies: My all time fave is The Royal Tenenbaums.
Books: A lot of my faves are political books about Guatemala. Also, Everything by David Sedaris, Chelsea Handler, and Sherman Alexie.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
We were lucky to live in Guatemala for a semester when the girls were young and we were in grad school. We lived with a Mayan family and the girls went to public school and it was pretty lovely.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Booze, laughs, and deep discussions about the fascinating world of stupid American voters.
