About Me

Well, let's see.

I'm 39, born and raised in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio. I've lived all over: Sacramento, Brooklyn, Philly, San Diego, and then Missouri and Germany when I was in the Army. Despite having lived all over the place, I feel like I haven't really discovered America. That's why I'm walking from coast to coast. I want to see my country and meet my fellow countrymen. CNN tries to tell us how divided we are, but aside from a handful of political issues, I think we're all just decent human beings trying to find happiness. Let's prove CNN wrong.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm going to be spending five months walking across America. While I'll be camping for the vast majority of the hike, I imagine I'll want to take a shower and sleep with an actual roof over my head from time to time (you don't even need to have a couch for me; I'll sleep on the floor).

Interests

I'm big on distance-hiking and I'm also a writer of sorts (I'll tell you all about it when I stay with you).

Music, Movies, and Books

Music depends on my mood, but if we're being honest, I listen to NPR more than I listen to music.

Movies: Royal Tenembaums, Pulp Fiction, The House of Yes, This is Where I Leave You, Casino, Moonstruck... Scotland, PA... and a thousand other ones. Why? Are we going to be watching movies? Sweet.

Books: The Fountainhead, A Confederacy of Dunces, East of Eden, The Alchemist, A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again, Furiously Happy and a bunch of others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think walking across the country counts, right?

What I Can Share with Hosts

As I'll be carrying my life on my back, I don't know that I'll have much to offer my hosts other than my deepest gratitude... but I'll likely have some good stories to share. :)

Countries I’ve Lived In
