About Me

I am a MSc student studying wildlife ecology! Though I was born in northern BC and am currently living in Vancouver for school, I've also lived in New Zealand and the states, as well as a few years on a sailboat in the South Pacific. Graduating in spring 2019 and can't wait to get out exploring again.
I am new to this website, but not to couchsurfing. Living all over the place has taught me to reach out and give space for people when I can, and be grateful for the spaces I am given. Currently living in a busy community house, but may be able to offer couches soon!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Right now it's very trip-specific: I will be travelling in Switzerland and Germany around Christmas, and am trying to do so cheaply. No real plans, so it'd be wonderful to have a friendly face offer local advice!

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Harry Potters (all), The Hobbit, Margaret Atwood's MaddAddam series, The Handmaid's Tale, Braiding Sweetgrass, The Golden Compass series, The Orenda, Americanah, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo..... books are my favourite form of entertainment. I will read anything with a complex story and characters, with a healthy mix of fiction and nonfiction
Music: Nahko Bear & Medicine for the People, Gin Wigmore, Tash Sultana, Jesse Reyez, Hozier, The XX, Alabama Shakes, Chance the Rapper, Chet Faker, Dusty Springfield.
Movies: not too picky

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Three years ago I cycled the length of New Zealand's South Island with a friend. 1000 km, 10 days. Would love to cycle more!

Teach, Learn, Share

Teaching: I am veeeeery passionate about my wildife ecology research, and would be happy to talk about it forever. Ask me about Canadian wildlife, or bats (they're not creepy ;) )!
Learning: I am eager to work on new languages! Learning spanish very slowly on my own, but am very open to others. I love how learning new languages teaches you more about culture, communication, ways of thinking... everything :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to cook, and would be happy to share meals! Also conversation and an open mind
