About Me

ABOUT ME

Easy-going, funny, considerate, kindhearted, doodlebug, loves to travel - have taught/traveled around in South Korea and Japan, and vacationed in the Philippines.
Non-smoker, non-drinker, prefers nights in with board games and food to nights out.
I just graduated from grad school and am looking to move toward something, instead running away.
If you like puns or laugh at my dumb jokes, we'll get along fine.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm looking to meet and have interesting conversations with people from all over the country and all over the world. I do not have much, but I would like to offer a spare room or couch, a listening ear, and any advice (if desired) I can.

My current location (Buffalo) is 20-30 mins to the Falls, and many travelers stay in Buffalo as it is cheaper and there is no currency exchange needed. Buffalo is also a historical city - at one point, it was the richest city in the nation, because it was one of the first cities to get electricity (thanks to the Falls). in 1900, Buffalo hosted the Pan-American Exposition, parts of which you can still see in the city, but is best remembered for the assassination of then-president McKinley.

Interests

I like traveling, trying new things, drawing comics, reading news articles and graphic novels, taking 3 hour naps, surfing the web for dank memes, watching youtube more than TV, being hilarious, and teaching/living abroad.

Music, Movies, and Books

music: Tegan and Sara, The Decemberists, Matchbox 20, Mother Mother, This Day and Age, Matthew Good Band, Sara Bareilles, Alessia Cara, Say Anything, etc. Mostly depressing indie/folk/alternative music. Canada makes good music.
i haven't listened to much new stuff lately. I like a lot of late 90s-early 00s stuff too. Videogame OSTs or Joe Hishashi OSTs are good for focusing.

Movies: I don't like a lot of movies enough to rewatch them. If I get bored (or if I really, really like one), I will talk during it (but during lulls in the action). But I like Legally Blonde, Little Miss Sunshine, Moana, Wonder Woman, and prob a few others.

Books - the Phantom Tollbooth, Horrible Histories, Calvin and Hobbes, a lot of manga, The Hunger Games trilogy, American Born Chinese, Fun Home, etc. I mostly read graphic novels nowadays

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a masters in TESOL (teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). I can help those from other countries with English if they'd like.

I have also lived in this area for my whole life, so I can make suggestions (I am somewhat bad with directions tho)

I would love to share advice about living and working overseas, or life in general.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I will tidy up after myself and can help with meal prep. I can share my sense of humor and my stories from traveling abroad and teaching in the classroom. I'm also a good listener if someone just needs to talk. If a remember, I can bring a fun game for us to play (Exploding Kittens is my favorite).
