Mmm - camping, hiking, cycling, snorkelling, pubs, restaurants - what's not to love?

Finding our way around the world by bike and on foot - crazy fun and meeting so many awesome people. Loving life.

Back home: trying to create eco-friendly house with big organic garden (slow process!). Big workshop and classic cars too.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We love CS both hosting and surfing because it's a great way to meet new people and discover all the amazingly diverse things that enthuse and empassion people. We hope that's why you love CS too and not just for a free bed.

We get quite a few requests - but don't be deterred - we just like to see that people have read our profile a bit and thought about why they'd like to stay with us! If you send us a copy & paste message you're unlikely to make the cut ;) and that'd be a shame because we bet we'd have a ball hanging out together!

Interests

Talk to Pete about: Australian wildlife (did you know that the kangaroo family - macropods - includes over 50 different species?), classic cars (come out to the shed and check them out), cycling (just spent 6 months cycling from Alaska to LA).

Talk to Erin about: hiking (SA has so many beautiful places to discover), playing music (have a go on her guitar/piano/mandolin/recorders/morin khuur but don't expect her to be able to play any of them properly!), literature (books, books, books), cycling (she rode from Alaska with Pete), organic gardening (sometimes we have delicious veggies...)

Music, Movies, and Books

We've got pretty eclectic tastes....

Books: Way too many to list but.... anything by Tom Robbins, David Mitchell, Iris Murdoch, Guy Gavriel Kay, Salman Rushdie (let's not forget the classics -Kerouac,Tolkein, Austen, Hemingway). Erin reads like a dervish and will devour any new books and authors you can send her way!

Music: Seriously, just about anything goes - Feist, David Bowie, Beethoven, Cole Porter, Hilltop Hoods, Miles Davis, The Cat Empire, Pink Floyd, Bach, Zero 7, The Doves, Nick Drake, John Dowland... we're talking 60s folk, 70s rock, Australian alternative, swing/jazz/blues, electronica, medieval & classical..... we love music!!

Movies: you don't want to go there...let's just say that Erin has seen both the Mariah Carey & Britney Spears movies and lived to tell the tale... so clearly we'll watch just about anything.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Yak sledding across a frozen lake in Mongolia was pretty special... so was watching the moon rise over the Sahara desert on the day it was closest to the earth in 150 years....
