About Me

There are acutely two of us here. My riding buddy from earlier this year decided she liked Richmond and I enough to hang around a bit longer. Her name is Raychelle (pronounced like Rachel)and she is a unlv grad that is fitness conscious. She is quiet at first, but fun to chat with once she gets comfy. She won't admit it, but she's pretty artsy. I've heard her listen to all kinds of music, and she is down to watch any movie or show (except horror movies). She's pretty open so if you have any questions for either of us, just shoot a message.
As for me: cyclist; grease monkey; retail drone; adventurer... all that may be an oversimplification, but if i have any major goals in life, one of them is to live simply. I am a dog person, but am happy around all critters. I typically reserve my thoughts on politics and religion for those close to me, even if our views differ. I prefer to be barefoot at every opportunity. I like tea and coffee. the three things i love most are my dog, my bike, and my family. I have no great claims to fame or infamy. I live happiest when i live by the following phrase: "anything worth having is worth sharing". I do not expect from others the same that i expect from myself, not because i do not think they will live up to snuff, but more so because i try to focus more on the goals i have set for myself. I do stand-up comedy on occasion. i draw on occasion. i ride my bike every day. I laugh very loud. I like to make others laugh, but will settle for smiles. I like beer, wine, and mixed drinks, but really only one or two at a time. I have a love/hate relationship with my hair.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

On January 28th Raychelle and I embarked on a 3500 mile bicycle tour. I wanted to rely on my camping skills as much as possible, but because i am an extrovert that likes to shower regularly, couchsurfing seemed to be a good resource. I also liked the idea of hosting when i come to a stand still. I usually have extra bikes, and i love to share. In short, i'm here to be an adventurer, make friends, and share my passions (bikes and laughter mostly).

Interests

Cycling. every kind. I'm no stunt rider but i love watching down hill competitions and bmx half pipe events. I get my thrills riding in traffic, but pretty much anything on two wheels has my attention.
Dogs, cats, pigs, rats, ferrets... cute furry critters. Don't hold it against me, but i'm a stereotypical girl when it comes to our adorable furry friends.
Live music. Books(pretty much anything that can hold my attention past two pages, and that has been true in more than a few genres)
People.
Comedy. I love stand up, even the really bad stuff. there's something to be said for the bravery of the one's that really suck at it.
I have terrible taste in movies and music so i pretty much reserve that to my alone time (for some reason no one ever wants to listen to show tunes with me)

Music, Movies, and Books

movies: animated movies in general. horror movies from campy to gory. of the two genres my two favorite movies are "the little mermaid" and "feast".

books: not sure if i could choose a favorite, but i do love "the poisonwood bible", "the ethical slut", and "the understory". I'll devour anything by chuck palahniuk, but my favorites so far are "rant" and "lullaby"

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The only amazing things i can think of involve falling or being hit by a car without sustaining any major injury, but i'm not sure that really counts.

At the beginning of 2015 Raychelle and I rode from Tempe AZ to Richmond VA. It was the first tour for both of us. It was awesome!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a good cook that loves to cook, from a family of good cooks. I also have several killer cookie recipes. Let me know of any food allergies/dislikes and i'm off. I am a trained massage therapist; though my certs are expired and i'll be traveling without a table, i'm still skilled. I just stick to extremities, necks and shoulders. I'm a wiz at folding laundry. No, really. I spent a decade in retail. I once had a friend time me, and i folded four loads of laundry in thirty minutes (including 2 fitted sheets), by myself. I'm not sure if that's a record or anything, but i'm pretty proud of it. I find folding laundry kind of soothing. I know it's weird, but i like to put it in the pro column of having me around. I spent two years running a lube shop, and know my way around an oil change. I've even serviced brake systems. If you have the tools and parts, odds are i can get it done.
