About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To follow my own desires and trust them fully to lead me to my greatest soul expression in this life.

ABOUT ME

I am very much on a spiritual path that every single day leads me to a richer and more expansive experience of life. I got a Ph.D. in Biology from Penn State. I continued in academia for a few years after that, and did a postdoc in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for a year. About 2 months into that postdoc I found two things (1) I first learned about the Law of Attraction by hearing about it on a podcast and (2) I decided for sure that I would leave academia. I have since learned so much about the universe and who we are as creators of our own experience.

I now work as a traveling freelance model, so I travel and make art with my body. I love it!! I'm still kind of new to doing it as my full-time job and all that comes with being an entrepreneur (bookkeeping, quarterly taxes, managing time, etc). I'm also starting a life coaching business.

PHILOSOPHY

It is not up to me to plan every detail of my life. There is a power that is so beyond what I can see and sense with my 5 senses that loves me and is leading me along my path to greatest joy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted a two groups of couch surfers at my house and went out for drinks with a handful of others.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have enjoyed hosting very much, from just going to bars downtown, to going on local hikes or rock climbing. Right now I don't have a living situation that works for hosting, but when I do get to travel I love meeting new people! I think this whole thing is brilliant :-)

Interests

I eat a super-clean diet. I dabble in all sorts of mind-body practices, but right now mostly yoga, myofascial release, and meditation. Rock climbing is my favorite sport.

Music, Movies, and Books

A Course in Miracles - changing my life, a daily self-study course in how the universe really works
The Universe Has your Back by Gabrielle Bernstein (easy read for my generation, How I found a Course in Miracles)
Medical Medium: Secrets Behind Chronic and Mystery Illness and How to Finally Heal - helped me to heal from skin and digestive issues. There's also a website, blog, podcast
The Power of Posture by Naudi Aguilar - introduced me to myofascial release. His website and youtube channel, Functional Patterns, also has a lot of great exercises to re-integrate the whole body for better biomechanics
Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert - Phenomenal - I have listened to the audio book 4 times. Always inspiring
Material Girl, Mystical World by Ruby Warrington - definitely more engaging to women, but I loved this book. I had been struggling with (and probably always will) the tension between being a product of our materialistic society and its views on female beauty and wanting to live an expanded spiritual life. This book kind of gave me permission to have both - but just have the right intention.
The Biology of Belief by Bruce Lipton
Healing Ancient Wounds: The Renegade's Wisdom by John T. Barnes - I actually haven't read this yet but I have watched tons of Barnes's videos on YouTube. I just ordered the book though

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have done a few ayahuasca ceremonies in Brazil - all have been life-changing experiences.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to learn more about personal finance. I love to teach people self myofascial release techniques so they can help themselves with chronic pain and stiffness.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I wealth of knowledge from reading, studying, and practicing holistic health and spirituality. I've also gotten very good (at least I think) at cooking within my restricted diet. You can do a lot with fruits and veggies! I am happy to share and talk about these things endlessly but I don't need to get preachy about it ;-)

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Brazil, Canada, Fiji, Germany, Honduras, Japan, Samoa, Switzerland, Tonga
