About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to dazzle the world with my Fire Trapeze, using it to create spectacular art, and as a metaphor for empowering people to follow their own light.

ABOUT ME

I perform static trapeze and aerial silks, love rowing anything from canoes to kayaks to dragon boat, and can occasionally be found indulging an amateur love of climbing (mountains, scaffolding, anything really). I am a physical theater performer and director and I like working with multiple media, such as dance, film, sound or visual art in my work. I am a scenic artist and work with scenic painting and property design, and occasionally some set design and construction. In NYC I am insanely busy. Elsewhere I like to walk slowly, sip wine and relax. I am interested in languages and have studied Japanese and Spanish so far and am almost fluent in the latter. I write fiction and spoken word poetry. I am pretty independent and introverted for being such a rock star performer, but love to meet new people and exchange ideas and debate about food & the meaning of life or get all silly and sassy and laugh til we cry.

PHILOSOPHY

Right now I'm working on:

"not being attached to the results"
"being a part of the protective and beneficial forces of the universe"
"finding my purpose"
"accepting myself just as I am right now, even if that means accepting that I'm not accepting myself"
"being the greatness that I am meant to be, right now, not tomorrow"
and just being happy, which is often more challenging than it seems, isn't it?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I live in Austin Tx now, but I often leave, running away like a true Circus Vagabond. Couchsurfing is invaluable as a way to meet people in new places and feel like I'm home away from home and hopefully be able to offer that in return every once in awhile when I am home.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

When I moved to New York City, I did it rather impulsively and I spent 6 weeks couch surfing with friends and then 6 weeks in a sublet while trying to find an apartment and a job. I was so amazed at people's willingness to host me and open their doors to me. I also enjoyed how much more I got to learn about some of my friends and spend more quality time in their lives. Since then, my connections to couchsurfers has been absolutely amazing! Almost universally a great character recommendation, as if you'd been introduced by a good friend...sometimes better. Then, when I moved to Austin TX in 2013, I ended up subletting and couchsurfing (with my cat even!) for over 10 months before finding a home to settle down with. I love meeting people in the intimacy of one of our homes, its an instant bond.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Just one? I am a seeker of amazing things. I am living to experience them.

I went to Peru, with a Vagabond Circus from SF. I didn't know anyone. We traveled for two months and lived with, taught, performed for and shared our lives with people across the country. I danced with my first fire toy. I had a dream of making my trapeze ropes light on fire. I spent 2 years designing how to do it without dying, and as spectacularly as possible. I am now officially the inventor and performer of the Trapeze on Fire.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a pretty darn good theater director/coach. I am a forge your own path kind of person. I have moved a lot and driven across much of the United States, often on my own. I have a lot of experience in making dreams reality, especially in running theaters or production companies. I am great at finding out information online. Like, I'm a Google whisperer or something. I am currently collecting skills and information in social networking. I know a little about nutrition and health and working out and love to share these things. The best way to get Erinina time is to make art with me or come play trapeze.
