About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To volunteer, couchsurf, and work my way all around Asia.

ABOUT ME

I graduated from university in 2011 and have been determined to travel freely ever since. After over a year of teaching English in Chengdu, China, my boyfriend and I finally have the opportunity to take some time off and work our way around Asia!

We're especially interested in taking an overland route from China to Turkey, with a detour into Southeast Asia (we need some sunshine after our year in Chengdu!). I'm really looking forward to slow travel-- more time for meeting people, trying new foods, and learning more about different cultures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've had great couchsurfing experiences! I've yet to be a surfer, but I've hosted/met some cool people, and look forward to meeting more!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Living in Chengdu for 15 months has been an awesome experience. Getting invited to one of our good friend's hometown for Chinese New Year was a huge highlight. We got to hang out with some of the most friendly, hospitable people I've ever met and eat tons of tasty Sichuan dishes we hadn't yet tried. So much fun.

Traveling around India will always be an amazing memory for me because it was my first real independent travel experience and the inspiration for most of the choices I've made since. I loved it all, from the food, to the stomach troubles (they suck, but it's worth it for all the delicious food), to the long train rides, to the Taj. I wouldn't be traveling today if it wasn't for my decision to study abroad there!

Teach, Learn, Share

I made an attempt at learning Chinese while I was living here, and although I can get around pretty well in China on my own, I haven't managed to impress anyone with my Mandarin skills. Oh well.

I'm currently studying Portuguese independently. I love learning languages and am looking forward to learning some new vocabulary in every country I visit. I'm happy to help anyone with English if needed!
