I quit my corporate engineering job a few years ago to travel on a sabbatical. . . and I never went back! I'm now traveling 100% for activities to build up my own optical engineering business. So, I'll be still kind of homeless for a little while longer, but in the fun way.

I laugh a lot. I promise I'm not laughing AT you. Unless I tell you. I would tell you if I were laughing at you. I'm also blunt. People tend to find me hilarious as well, although I'm still not sure whether it's the "with you" or "at you" kind.

I was living in Chicago for a few years and always wanted to host, but between very cramped living quarters, crazy roommates (like, literally nuts) and 12-hour minimum working days, I was never in a good situation for that. Now that I'm traveling constantly, I'm at least finally able to meet new people from the other end of things! I really enjoy meeting new friends and learning about their backgrounds and passions and goals. People are the most interesting things about travel.

It would be especially fantastic to meet some people who are deep and out-of-the-box thinking entrepreneurial types around my age. It's been so cool meeting these types as I travel and learning about new ways of carving paths in this world. Plus, it's what I spend most of my time thinking about and working on these days. That said, I can selfishly learn valuable viewpoints from everyone, so, I'd be happy either way.

I haven't had time to read for fun in a long while, and last time I did it was a lot of non-fiction stuff geared at self-advancement.

So Much SciFi: Contact, What Dreams May Come, Gattica, the Matrix, Atonement, Joy (this was awesome b/c I watched it in a theater in Taiwan and in 3 seconds learned volumes on Taiwanese culture)

I like doing work involving words by music not having words, a la Ludovico Einaudi, Bach, Vivaldi. I like to paint to Blackmill and other chill step type music. Dammit, I like chill step. Found a sailing yacht to accept me as crew in Malaysia last minute when I got kicked out of Ireland.
Lived in Germany for about a year total *without becoming an alcoholic*.
Designed headlights and tail lights for cars and trucks you've driven or ridden in or seen.
Painted a quasi-reproduction of a Fra Angelico piece. Not "amazing", perhaps, but pretty damn close.

I can cook pretty great, random things! I like picking up a new recipe from everyone I can that I live with, and it's resulted in a nice variety. I can also help you with math, physics, resume writing, driving a manual transmission car and having some laughs.
