About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Being the last cyclist of the season in ICELAND

ABOUT ME

A briefly introduction about myself? Hm, ok, lets try:

I am a graduated Master student in Environmental Engineering. I worked as a project engineer in landfill recovery and land recycling. Since I spent my childhood and youth in a small village with many fields and forests around, I liked to go out and enjoy the nature. Then I decided to study sth. with Environment...maybe I've had a little bit more of ecological thinking then my other friends.
But parties, concerts, festival were a big part of my life as well. And for this - Germany is still the best place to be. I am a Metalhead with quite a broad horizon, which reaches even into some kind of electronic music. I lived in many countries already, especially the last six years. I did not have the travelbug just recently, in 2010 I did a (hitch)hiking tour through Southern Sweden. Just for fun and to carry some vinyl to a Swedish friend. Sounds weird, but its true, hehe. Also did a hitchhiking trip from Leipzig to Istanbul. Went through many East European Countries. Slept in a tent, in bushes, at couches - awesome.
Half a year I spent in Stockholm studying. 15 months in New Zealand and 14 months Australia (split up in two visits). Hitch hiked through Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.
I worked now I think eight times in wineries all over the world as a Cellar hand - so I am kind of wine maker, haha. Here in Canada I worked in a Kombucha brewery. Incredible experience, people-wise. Sadly my visa ended and I had to leave, heavy hearted. Now I am at a point where I can't get any more working holiday visa. I am not getting younger, *sigh*.
But the following sentence I wrote in my profile many, many years ago and now? Now it became true, even though I never planned it:
"But other journeys have to be done in future times - like cycling around Iceland or more hiking trips."

I cycled quite a bit in ICELAND and I am not done yet. Yeah!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am a member since 2009. But at this time only with purpose to find a last minute host for my way back through Southern Sweden.
Hosted a few people in my room in Leipzig. Since I am on the road I can't host anymore.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Did CS several times in Finland and also in Southeast Europe. In Perth/Australia, New Zealand, USA. Couchsurfing in Asia combined with hitch hiking. One of the best experiences!

Interests

Interested in nature (general) and Environmental topics. Festivals and Concerts, Friends, especially my closest at home and the unforgettable parties we had and will have, when I am back.
Also interested in daily news and what’s going on the world. Open for new ways of living and fascinated about the alternative lifestyle in the Nordic countries (memories of my time in Stockholm).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My hikes in the most southern part of the world, not Antarctica, but Isla Navarino in Chile. Did an abandoned hike there, it was damn challenging. Slept on a glaciar withougt a proper sleeping bag and no gas, an emergency camp, worried as hell but super happy and exhausted when I made it. Though my parents were not happy about that story, hehe.
