Overview
About Me
I have received my doctorate in the department of Classics in Istanbul University in which he is also teaching as an Assistant Professor since 2013. As a faculty member at Istanbul University, I teach Archaic Greek Poetry, Early Greek Thought, and Classical Greek Thought. My main research fields focus on the notions of truth in the Archaic Greek Poetry from the eight to fifth century BCE and also in the Platonic tradition including neo-Platonists. In this academic year, he will focus on synthesis of apophatic and kataphatic theological approaches in early Christian thought as visiting scholar in Harvard Divinity School.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
One of my friends frequently tell me I do not only have curls outside of my skull, but also inside of it : ) I have been always a thinker and writer even before I was not illiterate five years old little boy. I jot down everything in my little notebook. But this attitude does not display my introvert character, contrary this is my extrovert part. That is why, I would like to meet new people from different cultures.
Interests
Reading for my own research (it is both my job and entertainment in some sense), cooking, practicing guitar, singing, reading loudly (mostly reciting poems), biking, tasting good wine, working out, having inspiring conversations, pondering on who I am....

Music, Movies, and Books
Music
Jazz, and every kind of music based on improvisation, I fell in love Bird's (Charlie Parker) music when I was 13 years old. I have been listening Jazz music after that amazing experience. But I would love to discovery everything musical, music is the only truth in the universe!
Movies
I love to explore the history of cinema. Directors: Tarkovsky is on the top, Paradjanov, Bergman, Buñuel, Fellini, Antonini, Visconti, Wajda, Kurosawa, Ozon, Godard, Wong Kar-wai, Makhmalbaf...
Books
Its hard list all of them. Ancient Greek Literature was always one of my best: Homer and Plato are on the top, Demosthenes, Lysias, Sappho (ah such a beauty), Plutarch, Lucian...
and Latin Literature: Virgil and Cicero are on the top, Ovid, Terence, Horace...
Modern novel and poetry: Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Balzac, Flaubert, Musil, Proust, Rilke, Hafiz, Rumi...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Honestly most amazing thing in any life must be falling in love. I met a women in Istanbul and fell in love with her. But she was living in Bremen/Germany, I wrote her letters and poems without seeing her for four years. It was the most amazing thing in my life.
Teach, Learn, Share
I teach Ancient Greek and Latin, and like to have conversation on etymologies on Greek and Latin terms and their derivatives in Western languages. I have recently started to learn Syriac language.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Above all my world in antiquity (I really feel at home in Classical Athens), I like cooking and sharing my food with my friends, it is great to share my skills and energy with new people, and learn a lot from every single being.
