About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See the world and serve it's people... & make new friends on the way!

ABOUT ME

I love to have fun and meet new people and eat good food... I love to travel, of course, isn't that why we're all on here? I play A LOT of roller derby and enjoy riding my motorcycle. I used to teach English in a small village in northern Albania for 2 years where I developed a program to provide training and services to under served village girls (including; sex education, business skills, decision making, consent, women's health, etc.)... now I live in Tirana, Albania where I teach English and expand this program. I also travel a lot.

PHILOSOPHY

Be kind, respectful, and have fun. My family and friends are whats important to me, I love meeting new people and going on new adventures. I am new to surfing but have hosted lots & everyone has been so courteous and grateful, they have truly shown me how to be a good guest. I strive to be like them when I surf... courteous, considerate, respectful, appreciative.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I currently live with a roommate who works a lot and I have been traveling a lot this year so hosting has been difficult to schedule but we try to when we can. It's always a pleasure to meet new people and hopefully help them discover Albania. I can offer a very large sectional couch for sleeping and pillows and blankets and loads of advice/history/info about Albania.

Now that I live in the city I receive a TON of requests daily, so please respect how difficult it is for me to say no sometimes. Sometimes it is also very difficult to keep up with all of the requests. Tourism in Albania is BLOWING UP (and not a lot of people participating in couchsurfing yet, as travel is still a novel/luxury concept here) and I like to use this to meet new interesting people who are curious about Albania and the world. I don't really like to be treated like a free hostel. Thanks for understanding!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've loved couchsurfing for 8 years... don't plan on stopping. ;)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I did a study abroad in Eastern Europe and I met many students that were just like me but we were raised in an entirely different worlds with different cultures, languages, and government and it was awesome. It really just showed me how alike human beings are, no matter where we come from we all just want to smile and have fun. I also went to Africa this year and worked with an orphanage and saw the country side, a really wonderful eye-opening experience. I served as a volunteer with the United States Peace Corps. I hope to make the best of this experience, serve the people of Albania as much as possible and learn as much as I can from the Albanian people.

Teach, Learn, Share

My attitude is that I am a constant work in progress. I have plenty of flaws and plenty to learn, I need to always be aware of that and try to learn everything I can from everyone I meet.
