About Me
CURRENT MISSION
“Throw your dreams into space like a kite, and you do not know what it will bring back, a new life, a new friend, a new love, a new country.” - Anais Nin
ABOUT ME
Mid-thirties, "semi" professional taking a long-overdue career break and a leap into exploring the world.
PHILOSOPHY
Be kind - to yourself and to others. Try to have patience. Try to have empathy. Be as honest as you can. Be open-minded. Help out. Be good. Simple!
Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I lean towards the mellow side of the scale for music, generally. I'll often like a song or two by a particular artist without necessarily liking ALL of their material. Good harmonies and good lyrics can give me the shivers. Lately I've discovered Lisa Hannigan, Meaghan Smith, and Jack Savoretti. All good stuff!
I LOVE good books, any story with characters you can really sink your teeth into. My favorites change all the time, but right now I am loving Elizabeth Gilbert (fiction and non), Christopher Moore (if you haven't read any of his stuff, you MUST DO SO! His stuff is crazy but hilarious!). I also am a long-time fan of Alice Munro.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The past year has been just incredible. I've been to New Zealand, Australia, Thailand, Cambodia, Singapore, Bali and Fiji. There was something new and amazing to experience every day - mostly good, occasionally not so much so, but I wouldn't change a moment of it.
Highlights:
Tongariro Crossing, Kerosene Creek, bungy-jumping in Taupo and blackwater rafting with the glow-worms in New Zealand;
Renting a campervan and driving the Great Ocean Road in the pouring rain in Australia;
The incredible ruins (and monkeys!) in Lopburi, Thailand;
Visiting Angkor Wat and meeting the lovely people in Cambodia;
Soaking up the warmth of the sun and the fabulous people in Fiji;
just to name a few!
