About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Discover.

ABOUT ME

I program robots and take pictures.

I value people who can laugh at themselves, try to be witty, and enjoy deep discussions.

PHILOSOPHY

Ask good questions.

Always leave a place better than when you found it. This is a must for our CS friends!

Why not be happy? Life is better when you are happy. (Cannot confirm no deny, there is a possible confirmation bias)

I enjoy the time-slowing effects of the novel and unfamiliar.

Challenges are healthy. Understanding is a virtue. Sleep is a curse.

Learn from everything. Life is better when you're better.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I enjoy finding people with the desire and passion to experience new things and meet new people. So far, CouchSurfing has been one of the best ways for that.

Interests

My current obsessions include photography, robots, art, music, psychology, nature, and film.

science, philosophy, sociology, billiards, politics, technology, culture, astronomy, performing arts, museums, history, scuba, kayaking, any sports for fun at various skill levels (volleyball, soccer, tennis, basketball, golf, football, ultimate frisbee, bowling, etc.), swimming, biking, board games, card games, snowboarding, rock climbing, hiking, backpacking, camping, exercise, python, decayed urban exploration, sound reproduction, texas hold'em, volunteering, stimulating conversation, logic puzzles, anything new

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorites change all the time, but here's what movies I've enjoyed recently: Memento, Amelie, Mulholland Dr., Grand Torino, Thank You for Smoking, The Hangover, Being There, The Shawshank Redemption, Taken, Rear Window, All About Eve, À la folie... pas du tout, Amerian Beauty, Rachel Getting Married, I Heart Huckabees, Joint Security Area, Lust/Caution, Oldboy

As for music, I listen to everything. When I say everything, I mean everything, unlike many people that will say this. There are way too many bands and songs that I love, so it would be unfair for me to name which are my favorite, considering my failure of a memory. Instead, maybe I'll list some genres I like listening to this second: trip-hop, classical, post-rock, progressive rock, metal, anything with powerful vocals or awesome instrumentation.

Recent books: A Briefer History of Time, The Fountainhead, Breakfast of Champions, 1984, Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime, The Hunger Games

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiking up a little mountain with steep snow on the last quarter, overlooking a glacier with camera gear and gripless shoes to sit at the summit alone for miles as the sun passed over the mountain ridge.

Scuba diving in Mexican cenotes aka caverns and enjoying the trippy halocline.

Climbing sand dunes at 5 am to catch the early morning rays transform the landscape every second.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've always had a desire to learn all different areas in an attempt to not be ignorant, but rather appreciative about the depth of all facets of life. Feel free to join me in this endeavor.
