About Me

I am an ecological landscaper in Denver, CO. I help people build native plant gardens that support local pollinators and birds. I'm kind of a nut about it.

I am passionate about spending time in nature; evolving into a more responsible version of myself; dancing and natural movement (handstands etc); and building community. I have been very blessed by mindfulness meditation and I practice seriously. More recently, I've been focused on building my restorative landscaping business. También estoy practicando mi español.

I like to walk quietly and listen to the birds. I also love playing games with kids, climbing trees, swimming, cooking, talking to people, and writing.

I don't drink or smoke, and am not much of a partier.

I just read my old couchsurfing references, and it is probably worth noting that those references are about ten years old. I was very bubbly in my early 20s.

I am interested in finding a winter home in Costa Rica, and possibly buying some rural land with my partner John. So I am traveling around the country this winter for two months, trying to get a "feel" for daily life in different parts of Costa Rica. I am not interested in doing touristy things; I am interested in finding out what life is like for you in your town!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I used to be very active in the couchsurfing community. I hosted in California, Oregon, and South Korea; I couchsurfed while traveling; and I met a lot of wonderful people through CS. It was a very exciting community movement to be a part of.

I'm in a different stage of my life these days - focused on my work, my home life, and thinking about moving somewhere new. So I just logged back into CS to see if it could help me have a more genuine community experience while I am in the process of looking for our winter home. It would be great to connect with some locals.

I am vaccinated and boosted, and am pretty meticulous about taking precautions. I don't share rooms with non-vaccinated people unless I am wearing a mask. I value doing my part to stem the overall spread of Covid, and there are vulnerable people in my life whom we need to protect. So if I reach out to contact you, I may ask you about your vaccination or immunity status.

MUSIC
I like live music and silence and birdsong. Not much of a digital music listener.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most beautiful place I have ever seen was called Pulau Tenga {"Middle Island"}, off the coast of Komodo in Indonesia. It's little more than a tiny bump of rock above the waves, but the coral walls that wrap around it were breathtaking. A thousand fish in a thousand colors passed through canyons of impossible textures and hues. It was like being in a bowl of confetti. I spent two days floating around those canyons, and I never stopped feeling like my heart was going to explode out of my chest.
I'm glad I got to see that. I'm sad my children, if I have any, probably never will.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you about the principles of habitat restoration using native plants, or about regenerative agriculture practices (permaculture). I am also learning how to do handstands and can teach that! And I can cook pretty well. Would be happy to cook for you. In general, I would like to bless you if I can. I'm using couchsurfing because I want to get to know locals like you and see the world through your eyes.

Quiero improvar mi espanol!
