About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To make music and friends, to gain wisdom, to sit silent sometimes, and never to forget love and friendship.
ABOUT ME
I'm friendly, a music lover, and eager to meet people and try things, at home in Seattle and elsewhere.
Interests
I love cities -- neighborhoods, buildings, transit, infrastructure, daily life -- and want to explore more of them. This interest probably comes from a year spent living in Paris, the first major city I got to know. I spent much of the year just learning to appreciate how the place worked.
I sing Sacred Harp (aka shapenote) and also enjoy jazz...a great jazz concert makes me ridiculously happy. Other interests include hiking, books, minimalism, pub trivia, piano, wine, and movies.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love movies from anywhere, but especially Iran and east Asia. I'm also a regular at the silent-movie series that play at Seattle's Paramount Theater several times a year.
Music: large jazz collection, growing collection of folk polyphony, and a love of string quartet.
Books: Christopher Alexander, Vladimir Nabokov, Penelope Fitzgerald, and, if I'm stuck on an airplane, a good Star Trek novel.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Learning to take and develop (film) photos from an émigré Czech photographer in Paris; this was a great introduction to the generosity of artists.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you Sacred Harp singing or basic résumé-writing. I would love to learn about cooking or identifying the plant life in my neighborhood.
