About Me
Hi there!
I’m a Ghanaian-Canadian who’s been travelling around for the past two years while doing my masters degree in African Studies. I’m just getting to the end of writing my thesis all about arts activism in Ghana. Before this, I spent eight years in Montreal, Canada studying and making theatre.
I’m a very easy-going, playful person and open to trying new things. I appreciate getting to know new people but I also really value deepening connections and spending quality time, whether that’s cooking and eating together or going out on a hike.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm new to couch surfing but over the past two years I've had the chance to live with so many different people and I've really enjoyed getting to know new flatmates, sharing a slice of our lives together, and becoming real friends.
This July, I'm visiting a close friend in Malta but she unfortunately doesn't have the space in her apartment to host me for the whole month. So I'm hoping to meet someone new who I can stay with, but also who I can enjoy time together with and build a connection!
Interests
I also enjoy music, arts, and literature. I like to spend time writing. I love being in nature. I try to do yoga and go for a swim whenever (and wherever) I can.
Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite DJ: https://soundcloud.com/sashamarieradio
I love folk, R&B, neosoul, afrobeat, funk, rap, hip hop and honestly anything that I can sing along or dance to!
I love cinema! A few of my favorite directors are Park Chan-wook (Old Boy, The Handmaiden), Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name, Suspiria), Ferzan Özpetek (His Secret Life, Steam), and Barry Jenkins (If Beale Street Could Talk, Moonlight).
Right now, I'm re-reading Milan Kundera's The Unbearable Lightness of Being. I'm also obsessed with a few ruthless Black women writers like Toni Morrison (Sula, The Bluest Eye), Dionne Brand (Theory), Jamaica Kincaid (Lucy) and Ama Atta Aidoo (Our Sister Killjoy, Changes). I also love sci-fi and fantasy!
