Overview
About Me
Hello, my name is Esmé. I’m a tea-guzzling, face-pulling, British kid – and famously bad at writing bios.
I recently moved to Canada looking for a new adventure (…my quarter-life crisis?) and I’m hoping to see and experience as much as I can at this side of the pond… and spread a little joy as I go! I love travelling, adventure, exploring, learning, and surrounding myself with good food, good music and even better people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
During university, I got to meet a few really awesome people through the Couchsurfing community… So often, it’s the people that make a place memorable, so I would love to be part of some more memories and meet some people to be in mine. …And there’s nothing quite like seeing a new city through the eyes of someone who knows and loves it.
Interests
I love to make people smile, laugh, and eat! Nothing beats a good book (I’m currently trying to make up for several lost years of reading), good/bad/edible cake (been travelling the globe trying to find the best), a coffee shop with a view, hiking somewhere breathtaking, or having a proper wiggle once in a while (even if it’s just around the kitchen).

Music, Movies, and Books
I love my music!! It changes with mood, but at the moment I’m waking up with Quantic, wandering around with RJD2 or Christian Scott, cooking with Fela Kuti, and chilling out with Ella Fitzgerald or Ludovico Einaudi.
I have the same taste in movies as my grandmother – Agatha Christie-esque murder mysteries, black and white, over-stylized and utterly wonderful.
I read quite a bit of dystopian literature (currently Brunner’s Stand on Zanzibar – but keep getting distracted), but my all-time favourite book has got to be East of Eden (Steinbeck).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Last year I actually stuck to my new year’s resolution to ‘tackle one fear’ – so confronted my fear of the sea and open/dark water (a little lame, I know) by learning how to scuba dive. It was petrifying and beautiful...
