ABOUT ME

I love to travel, and would do more of it if work didn't get in the way. I am a fan of linguistics and learning languages, which has made communicating much easier. I am much better at playing mp3s than an instrument, but I am aspiring to dust off my keyboard this summer. Learning and teaching are also my passions, and I take every opportunity to learn from where ever I am, even at home.

PHILOSOPHY

Act as an ambassador for your home when engaging with others. There are good attributes to everything, so focus on the good! Positive energy is contagious.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I vicariously hosted a few couch surfers while living with fellow couch surfing host Ryan Lodge. My brief experience was intriguing enough for me to explore CS and I am excited to incorporate some couches while I explored Mexico and now I'm ready to in Alaska.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

The Big Lewbowski was the first DVD I bought. Lately I've been watching the occasional late night "news" show.

Musically, I am currently listening to Band of Horses, Iron & Wine, Wilco, Julieta Venegas, Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes, Frightened Rabbit, Josh Rouse, The Rural Alberta Advantage, Compay Segundo, They Might Be Giants, and many others. I have a modest library of albums.

I'm a fan of authors like Bill Bryson, Michael Pollan, Christopher Moore, Gabriel García Márquez, and David Sedaris.

I rode a bike down "The World's Most Dangerous Road" in Bolivia.
I bungee jumped off a bridge with an uncertain outfitter in Ecuador.
I witnessed glaciers caving in Alaska.
I saw the Space Shuttle take off.
I met several interesting animals in the Galapagos.
