About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Want to live in Berlin, throw paint at a canvas, and have a sick collection of potted plants on my Euro balcony.

ABOUT ME

Samantha. 25.

I would say that I am pretty easygoing. I am pretty hyperactive sometimes, my moods change at the most inappropriate times, like in the morning for example when everyone is still trying to wake up; my approach to the day will one minute be bordering on apathetic, two seconds later you won't shut me up. As my best friend puts it, "it is like you have just snorted a red bull". Good times!

I have a pretty infantile sense of humour, constantly going off tangents and crossing the line.

I seriously think I have a hot beverage addiction, so if you stay at my house, don't be alarmed if I have a coffee, followed by a cup of tea... No, make that two, and then maybe another coffee. Coffee before food always. In 30 degree heat, I don't grab the frappe, I grab the piping hot latte. Sick, isn't it?

Love people watching, and intense chats... Usually when you've had one of those nights where you have repeatedly asked yourself, "where am I?" and it is now 4am and you are now talking about your future in a gutter with a perfect stranger, or possibly your best friend. Favourite.

I am completely and absolutely addicted to the impulsive, mostly unplanned, nomadic lifestyle. I love the new things you learn about yourself, and how when you get home people notice a change. The more I explore, the more I believe that I am becoming a more fruitful person because of it. I love how you can just click with someone from the other side of the world almost instantly. I love how most people seem to be more open when they travel and disregard any friend filters that they had back at home. The only shitty thing is having to say goodbye. But that's the beauty of it right? It might be seen as sad to some people, but backpacking is definitely what brings me the most happiness.

Oh, and one more thing, ISN'T BERLIN JUST THE MOST AMAZING PLACE EVER? Hands down, favourite city so far.

PHILOSOPHY

Don't dismiss things as being nothing more than a dream, you should always branch out and do what you can to make these ideas materialise.

Open mind, open heart, embrace.

Honest,

I'd rather die interesting than beautiful.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

- You sleep on my couch.
- I sleep on your couch.
- I can show you around my hometown or in Sydney. I am in Sydney most weekends, so don't be shy! I am happy to party with foreigners! Always!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted Dejan the Slovenian cyclist who is cycling around the world.
I hosted the ever so sweet Caroline and Jule from Germany.
My friend and I stayed at Luis' place in Perpignan in France, what a cool guy!

Interests

I'm massively into music and love all sorts of genres. I'm particularly into shoegaze, early 90's emo, and folk at the moment. I do like mostly obscure music, but unlike other people I don't feel I act like a pretentious dick because of it!

Art- drawing, painting & photography. Mostly film photography.

Film, travel, fashionblogs, clothing, markets, culture reading, cuisine, writing.

Oh, and Travel of course.

Music, Movies, and Books

Garden State, Á bout de Souffle or Breathless (in English), High Fidelity, 2 Days in Paris, Dans Paris, Amelie, Lost in Translation, The Science of Sleep... Are you starting to see a theme here? Indie/arty films... And French films... So, I guess I am coming across as a smug little Francophile artfag. Haha, no, I enjoy silly movies too... Lighthearted stuff.

Books:

Hemingway, Jack Kerouac, assorted travel memoirs, and you should all read an amazing book called Love is a Mixtape.

Music:
Sans Trauma, Mineral, Minus The Bear, Flowers From The Man Who Shot Your Cousin, Pavement, My Bloody Valentine, Feist, Emily Haines, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Explosions In The Sky, Four Tet, Booka Shade, Hot Chip, The Album Leaf, Anathallo, Suis La Lune, Raein, Amanda Woodward....... And the list could go on for ages. I listen to many different genres, from trance to folk, from shoegaze to dreampop, from experimental to instrumental.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have backpacked around Europe twice now... I don't know, is that amazing?
Have you ever gone up the Swiss Alps on a train and looked at the view of Lake Geneva in the spring time? It's so beautiful it hurts.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn how to speak French fluently , and not laced with a terrible Australian accent, but like a native... Maybe someday I would like to speak Italian, Spanish, and Tagalog fluently aswell?

I paint and draw alot, but I don't know if I could teach you that? I could try. I have a fascination with The Romanov Dynasty and the last Tsar/Czar of Russia... I find myself getting into lengthy discussions about this at the strangest of times.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, Netherlands, Philippines, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In
