ABOUT ME
I'm always looking to learn new things and in search of the next adventure. I like meeting interesting people and seeing the seedy underbelly of new places. I like to take part in physically and mentally challenging pursuits. And I'm always looking to have fun and a good laugh.
PHILOSOPHY
"Speak what you think today in hard words and tomorrow speak what tomorrow thinks in hard words again, though it contradict every thing you said today." - Emerson. Always be looking to improve personally and have an open enough mind to do so.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I just left a 2-year commitment in Benin where I lived in a hut and was not in a position to host and now I have transitioned to traveling, thus am a bit homeless, so I have never hosted and am currently only surfing. But, once I am actually living in one place, I plan to open that door to hosting, no pun intended.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have only couch-surfed two times, and the first time I ended up in a coup d'etat in West Africa (that story to come if we ever meet) and one other time. Both times were very pleasant (minus the coup, but the host was great) and I think it's a great way to meet people and get to know the local culture of a place.
Interests
I love to read, run and learn. Physical activity is an important part of my life and I thoroughly enjoy competitive sports. One of my favorite ways to pass the time is spending quality time with people I care about. I also love playing games (i.e. catch phrase....I'm extremely competitive) and dancing until the sun goes down.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Watching the sunset in Dogon country, Mali after a long day of challenging hiking up the escarpment that looks out at the beginning of the Sahara.
Sitting by a trash heap in Parakou, Benin and drinking the very cheap, very bad tasting, local brew into the wee hours of the night with my best friend and having one the best nights of my life.
