Overview
About Me
I want to see the world! I love writing and sketching and watercolor painting. I am in a PhD program in Washington, D.C. for Medieval Studies. I want to go teach and live in Africa someday. I love running water and mountains and fresh food and farms and animals and open sky. I can swing dance and waltz and play guitar. I love music and writing and interesting conversations and colors and laughter, and I like to think that life is the best kind of fairy tale - one filled with paradoxes and contradictions and joy.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music - Ben Howard, Gregory Alan Isakov, Bon Iver, The Temper Trap - mostly guitar acoustic things, but I also love reggae and rock and jazz and swing and classical and alternative music.
Movies - Doctor Who (the twelfth doctor is my doctor), Gran Torino, Nanny McPhee (favorite movie of all time), Moulin Rouge, The Green Mile, The Shawshank Redemption, Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, Once - anything directed by Baz Luhrmann, anything with Sandra Bullock or Tom Hanks or Emma Thompson or Maggie Smith or Emily Blunt or Ewan McGregor
Books - C.S. Lewis, G.K. Chesterton, J.K. Rowling, Josef Pieper, J.R.R. Tolkien, Jane Austen, Fyodor Dostoevsky. My favorite book of all time is The Great Divorce by Lewis, and I want to write my senior thesis on the Gospel of Matthew. I also really love this book called The Tale of Despereaux by Kate diCamillo, and The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster. I also love fairy tales :)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I haven't done many things yet, but in April I'm WWOOFing on a farm in England, and I think that's going to be really amazing!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you to ride a unicycle and play guitar and make really tasty chicken marinade. I want to learn how to hang glide and rock climb and dance ballet, and I really want to have conversations about people's favorite books, because words have such a way of shaping our lives and it interests me so much how our daily experience is shaped by the words we remember.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm friendly, easygoing, hardworking, and I love to laugh and learn. I like listening to people - sometimes I'm a little quiet - and I love drawing and watercoloring (even though I'm not great at either).
