About Me

Born and raised in Liverpool, I spent my childhood staring at the map, singing Judy Garland's Somewhere Over the Rainbow, and dreaming about distant lands and meeting new people. My father left home when he was 17 and traveled the Kibbutz and all over the world; his stories would leave me in a state of awe. The first thing I did when I left school walked straight into a travel agency and asked them to send me somewhere - anywhere
- out in the world. My journey took me to Australia and I've been traveling ever since. The places I've been have inspired me, but it's the people I meet along the way that teach me the most. I've spent the last three years traveling New Zealand, living on the road, and having many adventures. This year, my journey is taking me to London, UK, where I'm beginning a degree in music.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Travel has opened me up to so many new experiences, and after hearing about the Couchsurfing community I've realized it's something I'd really like to try. My journey has taught me that money does not have to be a limiting factor in allowing me to meet new people and see new places. Some of my most incredible experiences have happened at the times when I have the least. As a traveler, I love the idea of being able to support one another in our adventures and make our travel dreams a reality. I would love to meet hosts in other countries just as much as I want to host other people from around the world and help them fulfill their own journies. Even though I will be spending the next couple of years at "home" to start my education and reconnect with my loved ones, it's as important as ever to me to stay involved in the traveler community.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC

Music is my whole world. The first CD which opened my mind came to me in a game of Pass the Parcel. I was 10 years old and won Amy Winehouse's Back to Black. From then on, it was on repeat every day. Her music opened me up to jazz - Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Sarah Vaughn - and it just expanded from there. It's hard to define my favorite genre. The more I hear and the more people introduce me to, the wider my interest grows. Currently on rotation is a lot of nusoul - Frank Ocean, Tom Misch, Nai Palm, Erykah Badu, etc.

Often times on my travels, I'll go catch some music - just whatever is on. From Screamo to Country, it doesn't even matter. I love live music. Music has always directed my travels. In Byron Bay, for example, I fell in love with the beach town’s buskers and ended up living there for half a year in a tent by the ocean. I worked odd jobs to get by, singing open mics and busking on the streets with friends.

MOVIES

I love the cinema.. always have! My mom raised me on films, watching Audrey Hepburn and all the golden oldies. I love all genres of film, but if I had to choose an all time favorite it would be Sleepless in Seattle.

BOOKS

I love books! I'm always open to new suggestions. Mostly I read novels or books on psychology. Recently I read the Anne of Green Gables trilogy and The Alchemist.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I snorkeled the Great Barrier Reef, I was told by the guides to put sun cream on at least 20 minutes before entering the water so I wouldn't harm the fish. To be extra safe, I felt like the best thing to do was skip the sun cream so I wouldn't be responsible for any fishy lives on my hands. I had the best time, seeing loads of interesting sea creatures, including a shark. The only downside was finishing my day - and night - with the worst burn of my life all over my backside. Every ginger has a story like this!

Teach, Learn, Share

What interests me most when meeting other people, is hearing their ethos on life - how they find happiness and peace. I like to take a step into someone else's world and see life from their perspective. Even with people who are completely different from me, you can always learn something from taking another's perspective. I love hearing and sharing stories. Food and music are huge passions of mine and an endless source of material to share and exchange.

What I Can Share with Hosts

It's never a dull moment with me. Raised with classic scouse wit and humor, I love some good banter! I truly love connecting with other people and am genuinely interested in hearing their stories and having a good chat about life, love, and the world.

I am the queen of thrift shops. Take me to a second-hand shop, and I can transform your wardrobe! I've got the gift.
