About Me

I am from Belgium and I discovered my love for traveling a few years ago when I took a gapyear between my studies. In this year, I worked 6 months and travelled the other 6 months to South Africa (volunteering), United States and Indonesia. I could not let the thought of South Africa go (still not :-) ), so I wrote my thesis about HIV and Morality after doing research in a township in South Africa. In my final university year, I got a joboffer as a prevention advisor (psycho-social aspects) and I took it. I knew I would want to travel more, so after six months I quited my job and travelled on my own in South America. And this was not the end....

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I had my first Couchsurfing experience during my trip in South America. When my Spanish got better, my urge to talk to the locals grew. Now I see the full value of this system, and I really got in love with the idea of hosting people all over the world and visiting them as well. During traveling in central Asie I slept almost every night in a house of a very nice family, due to couchsurfing but also the amazing hospitality of the people all over the world. Now I live in Changzhou and I have the time to give the traveling people the same back as what I recieved.

Interests

I love all facts of traveling (of course), meeting people, going out for a beer, reading books, learning about culture, food and cooking, write, photography, playing music (percussion and piano), hiking and enjoying nature.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last year I was traveling with two other girls in Central-Asia by hitchhiking and couchsurfing. The nomad life really got me.
