About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Live with kindness and deliberation.
ABOUT ME
I'm currently a graduate student at the University of Georgia studying beautiful but imperiled fish. Before that, I lived in the wonderful borderlands of AZ for three years, where I could explore the nooks and crannies of the desert and the mountains, travel the dusty roads of Sonora, or head to the Gulf of California. I also spent a year in the woods in Vermont, as well as years in Illinois with flatter terrain but wonderful people. My wife and I love to travel, cook, learn languages, study and spend time in the natural world, and meet people who have not lived the lives that we have.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spent time in college along with a few ornithologists living with the Tiriyó people in the rainforest border land of Suriname and Brazil for two summers in order to study the fascinating bird community there. There were no roads, just hunting paths, rivers, and dugout canoes. Hammock sleeping, macaws and harpy eagles, giant otters and anteaters and people who knew more about the forest than I ever could have imagined.
