ABOUT ME

Study/work in California with roots in Atlanta, GA. Recently got back from 5 months in south america, so trying to adjust to the U.S. again while hopefully meeting some cool people along the way. At sort of a weird juncture in my life (some would call it a quarter life crisis)--trying to figure out where I want to live, what I want to do, etc. etc. after I graduate from college. Traveling around and using Couchsurfing gave me the opportunity to meet a slew of new people, see new places, and restored my faith in humanity--so many gems of people use this site. It also helped teach me that there is more to life than working in an office and that sometimes life can be uncomfortable and messy but also incredible and exciting if you pause for a second and take a look around.

Yo estudio/trabajo en California y nací en Atlanta, Ga. Acabo de volver de 5 meses en America Latina, así que estoy intentando de acostumbrarme otra vez a los EEUU mientras conocer gente copada... Ahora enfrento un eje un poco extraño porque tengo que averiguar donde voy a vivir, que voy a hacer, etc. después de graduarme de la facultad. Para viajar y usar Couchsurfing me dio la oportunidad de conocer un montón de gente nueva, lugares nuevos, y me dio fe en la humanidad otra vez--hay mucha linda gente que usa esta red.. Ademas, me enseño que hay más que hacer en la vida de quedarse en una oficina y, aunque a veces la vida puede ser incomoda o desordenada, también puede ser increíble y emocionante si haces una pausa y la disfrutas.

PHILOSOPHY

Don't really have a personal philosophy... I guess something I'm trying to incorporate more into my everyday life is to listen to other people's perspectives. I know this sounds hella basic, but something I've learned is that every person has a different lived experience with different intersecting identities and subjectivities and oppressions and challenges they are facing and if I want to help it is my job to listen and work together rather than acting or working on behalf of someone...

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I can't offer a couch right now (haven't settled down yet) but I'm always down to meet new people, go out, grab a drink, go dancing, etc.

no puedo ofrecer un sofá ahora (no tengo un lugar permanente) pero siempre tengo ganas de conocer gente, salir, tomar algo, bailar, etc.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I used couchsurfing when I traveled around chile. Was an incredible experience. Hoping to host when I move back to California in September.

Lo usé couchsurfing cuando viajé por chile.. Fue una experiencia INCREIBLE. Espero que pueda hospedar gente cuando me mudo a California en el septiembre.

Interests

I study political science and spanish; interested in learning/talking about lots of things (prisoner's rights, lgbtq rights, women's rights, reproductive freedom, racial justice, immigrants rights, queer theory, etc.), and I go through waves of loving to write and also being a news junkie.

I also love film and art, sweaty dance parties, going to museums/galleries, going backpacking, checking out live music, cooking, etc.

Estudio las ciencias políticas y español; me interesa aprender/charlar sobre muchas temas (los derechos para los presos, la gente LGBT, los inmigrantes, las mujeres, el aborto, la justicia de la raza, la teoría queer, etc.) y tengo etapas en las cuales me encanta escribir y leer los diarios.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach spanish (?) I also love to cook but I'd love to learn how to make new things (especially meat... I need to conquer my fear of cooking meat).

Puedo (intentar) de enseñar español... Además me encanta cocinar y me gustaría aprender como cocinar recetas nuevas (especialmente la carne... tengo que conquistar el miedo que tengo de cocinar la carne).
