ABOUT ME
Adventurous, and always willing to hear some live music, no matter what it is. I strive to escape the tourist gobbledygook on my travels. I especially value all of the incredible interactions that I have with people when I'm away from home. I have explored much of my 3 cities (LA, NY, and Chicago), but now I wish to escape and check out everything else. Every day when I step out of the door I am reminded how incredible this world is.
PHILOSOPHY
Why not?
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've met a plethora of interesting and inspiring people in interesting and inspiring cities while sleeping on interesting and inspiring sofas.
Interests
A strange desire to circumnavigate the planet (I imagine this is pretty standard on couchsurfing)
Sailing, bike touring, swimming (anything to do with the ocean really) snorkeling, surfing.
Music music music, playing music and listening to music and watching music happen. I play a wide array of instruments; tablas, drumset, trombone, guitar, didjeridu, and some others. I am a radio DJ on my university's FM radio station in Chicago. And I love making and watching films -- everything from documentaries to features to strange experiments.
There's more: Reading! Writing! Singing!

Music, Movies, and Books
I love a great adventure story: The Motorcycle Diaries remains one of my favorite adventure road trip movies, and has a great soundtrack by the Argentinean composer Gustavo Santoalla. If you are looking for a great lengthy adventure book/memoir try Shantaram, about a dude escaping from Australia to roam around India.
Serious adventure book for the bookworm adventurers: Ulysses by James Joyce. 24 hours, one city, and two main characters -- sounds small scale, but this story turns a normal day into a lengthy voyage. It also incorporates the Iliad, Hamlet, and the Bible into its narrative. Pretty great stuff.
And of course, the adventure book to rule them all: the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.
I also need to mention Catch-22 by Joseph Heller. This was one of the first books I read that got me going on literature.
Movies...many...I'm a Los Angeles boy, so if you want to talk movies, we will talk movies.
My music taste is always changing, but ask me about Brazilian Funk or soundtracks for film and I'll be able to recommend some stuff.
Teach, Learn, Share
Music lessons! And with the right supplies, and the right amount of time I will show them how to MAKE A DIDJERIDU.
Also: I am a great amateur cook. So I will make a great amateur dinner for my great hosts!
Finally, I love teaching, so if my hosts want to learn some more English, I can help them out with pronunciation and new vocabulary
Otherwise I am super excited just to hang out!
