About Me

CURRENT MISSION

roll with it.

ABOUT ME

it's about time, i guess. i have had this account for over a year now and have not updated it since. i never enjoy these types of questions. perhaps they remind me of those endless college applications or something. perhaps because it forces me to take a look at myself and try to describe said person with a bunch of random letters on a page. either way, i believe i owe it to you. it's only fair, right.
all about me....i can't promise you that, but i will throw out a few things. i am a young man now who was born in massachusetts. my father and his family migrated from quebec when he was five. my mother has family in and around lowell and chelmsford area. her grandfather came with his family from england. my mother was married twice and eventually had eleven children, losing a set of twins and another child with miscarriages along the way. i always enjoyed the large family, however it was difficult for all of us as other relationships around us suffered and crumbled. i'm close with most of them now as they grow and move out into the world, starting families and living their lives.
before i was a legal adult, I had lived in massachusetts, new hampshire, and maine. since then i have lived in numerous other states and a few countries. my longest relationship to date is with my best friend, max. i can't begin to imagine all that guy has seen and witnessed. he's been there every step of the way since he adopted me 5 or 6 years ago in florida.
I've been described as a freespirit and have been in a perpetual state of mobility for years. I owned a house once in Kentucky and "settled" there for about a year or so. I've lived in my cars, had a couple of motorhomes back when gas wasn't so expensive, and am always down for camping under the stars. more to come...

PHILOSOPHY

Still working on this....love, for one. Definitely love. and for those of us who have to try harder-it's worth the effort. what about nothing good comes easy. god? i believe there is something bigger than us, something beautiful that we all naturally need. religions, religious influences and their limitations frustrate me. however i certainly do not judge anyone's personal beliefs. just don't hurt anyone with them and do not condemn others for not joining. more to come...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm all about community and believe building relationships with others to be the loftiest of life pursuits. couchsurfing not only allows strangers to meet and share experiences with, but also requires trust and faith in these individuals. This is what I enjoy. Unfortunately I have yet to host anyone. this is due to my living situations.
I spread THE NEWS of couchsurfing and have convinced several to get on board, including my brother in Florida. Several of these individuals have gone on to use couchsurfing often, ultimately changing their lives.

Interests

i'm interested to know what will happen to all of us when we die. or how we hurt the ones we love the most. or how there can be so many people in the world and i will only meet a molecular percentage of them. i am interested in how growing up with 10 brothers and sisters has impacted me and my experience at life. i am interested to know why bush and his team are still elected officials and why we don't as a nation understand the constitution. i'm interested to know how the police have become so powerful. interested to know if most americans realize they fear cops and that we live in a police state. people fascinate me and i can watch them for hours. cars. people's hearts. love. music. working with my hands to build anything. expressing myself in any form. documenting my life in any form. love. anything of substance and meaning. progress. individuality. dogs. love dogs. interested in letting go and trying not to control anything I can't. more later I guess... i'm also interested in the time we live in. when has the world as we know it, or people or civilization changed so drastically, so quickly, than in our lifetime? more to come... how about this excerpt form steinbeck's "east of eden":
"AND THIS I BELIEVE: THAT THE FREE, EXPLORING MIND OF THE INDIVIDUAL HUMAN IS THE MOST VALUABLE THING IN THE WORLD. AND THIS I WOULD FIGHT FOR: THE FREEDOM OF THE MIND TO TAKE ANY DIRECTION IT WISHES, UNDIRECTED. AND THIS I MUST FIGHT AGAINST: ANY IDEA, RELIGION, OR GOVERNMENT WHICH LIMITS OR DESTROYS THE INDIVIDUAL. THIS IS WHAT I AM AND WHAT I AM ABOUT. I CAN UNDERSTAND WHY A SYSTEM BUILT ON A PATTERN MUST TRY TO DESTOY THE FREE MIND, FOR THAT IS ONE THING WHICH CAN BY INSPECTION DESTROY SUCH A SYSTEM. SURELY I CAN UNDERSTAND THIS, AND I HATE IT AND I WILL FIGHT AGAINST IT TO PRESERVE THE ONE THING THAT SEPARATES US FROM THE UNCREATIVE BEASTS. IF THE GLORY CAN BE KILLED, WE ARE LOST."

Music, Movies, and Books

anything good. and anything you want to share.
music: caspian, postal service, press project, adullam, modest mouse, pinback, mountain goats, classic rock, jack johnson, indie rock, emo, bright eyes, calexico, to name a few
books: the essex, when elephants weep, frederick buechner, london, gibran, steinbeck, to name a few
Movies: anything by christopher guest, ritchie, indie films, foreign films, and documentaries. honestly, I watch no television and few movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

First thing that comes to mind... I have thought my time had come to die and i was pissed off because i had not done anything subsequent. At least to me. my life really did flash before my eyes and this specific experience lasted about 20 seconds. imagine that! I thought about ones i loved and ones i've hurt.

Teach, Learn, Share

being open and honest has proven to be the path for me. However, there are always times when i have needed to guard myself.
i have found that fear manifests itself: sometimes the very thing we fear, we attract to us.
to give is really to recieve. everything comes around-eventually. in times when my life seems to have no purpose, i find ways to give and that's purpose enough.
