Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now I am just looking to surf at peoples places and meet the real locals of the places I'm traveling to as they know the best bits and bobs of the cities and towns that they live in and can tell you more than the internet or any guidebook can.
I would love to host in the future, once I have my own place which should be in my second year of university (September 2014) so I can't promise any luxury there..

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only couchsurfed once before in Perth, Western Australia, with a legend in the making Rob Walpole who ended up adopting me and my friend.

Interests

Travelling, football, tennis, hiking, reading, listening to music that makes me wish I was talented at it, films, meeting new people who I wouldn't under most circumstances, running, photography (although once again not hugely talented, need a better camera), random facts, skiing and snowboarding, arriving in a place with 0 idea of what to expect and just rolling with it. Love food, I really do, one of those annoying people who is unable to gain weight though. History.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: will listen to anything really from heavy metal, to chillwave to opera. Currently love vibey music such as Blackbird Blackbird, Neon Indian, XXYYXX, Gold Panda, Tame Impala, Pond, Zonderling, Local Natives and many more of the genre. Strokes will always be up there though. Always up for watching small local bands in a bar as well.
Generally don't like dupstep, classic rock or club music.

Books: The Hobbit, Catch 22, 1984, Animal Farm, Brave New World, A Fraction of the Whole (best book ever), the Great Gatsby, Captain Underpants, Wilbur Smith novels, Clive Cussler is always fun.

My two favourite films would have to be Vanilla Sky and Into the Wild. I always find it impossible to think of any when I have to list them, but I love lots of films in general, especially ones that make you go "eeehhh" at the end.
Series are easier, big Sopranos, Game of Thrones, How I met your Mother, Family guy, Suits and Modern Family fan.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Working at an orphanage in Tanzania.
Actually got the results I needed for university.
Seen a lizard eating a bit of Spaghetti, that one requires an explanation probably.
Felt different from ever before after listening to a Nepalese monk who had walked over the Himalayas talk about Buddhism.
