About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Warp time.

ABOUT ME

I teach English and German to earn money and I travel to live. My wife and I are going on a year-long work and holiday in Australia at the end of the year. Until then we are travelling around Europe!

PHILOSOPHY

I try to live as ethically as possible, while also enjoying my life. Living in the moment is the goal, but it's not always easy. Travelling helps in this endeavor.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Surf and host when I can (but not now).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've met so many great people through Couchsurfing! I think it's a great idea because it allows you to see the world through the eyes of everyday people rather than as a tourist.

Interests

I'm interested in learning about cultures and languages and making connections with people from all over the world. I also really love nature and the outdoors. My hobbies include cooking, fitness, writing, and of course travelling.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Amelie, Wes Anderson stuff, Eternal Sunshine... I like movies that are more artistic than formulaic, which makes me a hipster, I suppose.

Music: Actually I don't quite like it, it's too noisy. (*sarcasm*)

Books: Hemingway is really good. I also enjoy poetry like Rilke and Neruda, for example. Actually I used to read a lot more before I discovered podcasts.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was in San Sebastian with these two Dutch guys that I randomly met while hitchhiking. This one morning we had just bought some bread and chorizo for breakfast. There was a panhandler outside the store and the one Dutch guy just gave the man all his food. I was like, "Wow, you're a really good person." But he just said that the panhandler needed the food more than he did. Then when I offered him half of my food he wouldn't take it. That left an impression on me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would like to improve my French. I can help people learn English and German. I can also cook, if the mood strikes me. If you're interested, I could teach you about Myers-Briggs personality types.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a great dishwasher!
