I have never had this much time and opportunity for traveling since going to college. So I'm trying to travel as much as I can, without sacrificing my long term goal and traveling hobby. I hope being a new member of the courchsurfing community won't throw people off.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

There are mainly 2 reasons.

1. When I travel alone, I like to meet people so that I don't get too bored all the time. You don't want to travel for so many days without really talking to anyone, do you? I think talking and meeting people keep me energized and refreshed. Also, I will be able to learn different cultures and perspectives of people who live in different part of the country/world. I don't like argument; but I love healthy discussion.

2. I get to save tons of money too! The more I save, the more I get to use them for future consumption.

Interests

Even though I graduated as a mechanical engineer at Purdue, working as a software consultant, I love investments. I spend most of the time not working burying myself in annual reports and financial statements. I started investments a couple of years ago and investing has taught me the ways to be a good business person.

Ok, this must be pretty boring.

I like to meet people. Whenever I live in a new place, I join some local organizations. So I have friends in almost every state in the US. I hang out with people every often, either for meals or just chatting. I also love watching movies.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to essentially all kinds of songs as all as there's a click. I listen to a lot of English and Mandarin songs. For English songs, it is really a wide range of songs. Some examples are Truly Madly Deeply, Bye Bye Bye, Poker Face, Shots, American Kids and Homegrown. As you can see, it's really a wide variety of songs.

I watch a lot of movies too but I love action and sci-fi movies like Mission Impossible, Transformers and The Avengers. I usually go to the theaters for those movies. But I do enjoy comedies and occasionally horror and thriller.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing I have done was selling books door to door during the summer. I think it's amazing because it's one of, if not the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. I worked close to 100 hours a week, knocking doors house to house. It was very hard but it was rewarding. I made a lot of friends who knew what hard work was, and I learned the importance of persistence and optimism. And only if I'm positive and motivated, then only I'm able to motivate the people around me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe I can share my vast (though not deep) knowledge about cultures, education, business and politics as I have had friends and experience in many different things from all over the world. I wish I can make life long friends with the hosts too for the years to come and if the hosts need me in the future, I will be able to provide assistance.
