Employment: Works in the Department of Equity, Social Justice, Empowerment and Human Services. The mission of this particular department is to enhance the psychosocial functioning of members of Saint Lucian communities, including families and individuals, as well as children, older people and other marginalised and vulnerable groups.

My job is concerned with community participation and ensuring that any environmental policies and projects being implemented are in-step with local priorities and will ultimately be to the benefit of the communities impacted.

The Government of Saint Lucia has been party to international agreements and commitments that speak to needs and rights relating to poverty and vulnerability and by extension Social Protection for the poor/indigent and marginalised groups in society. These include the Copenhagen Declaration of 1995; the World Summit for Children in 1990; the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in 1992; the World Conference on Human Rights in 1993; the Global Conference on the Sustainable Development of Small Island Developing States in 1994; the International Conference on Population and Development in 1994; the Millennium Summit of the United Nations in 2000, which saw the adoption of the Millennium Development Goals; the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) held in 2012; and the Post 2015 Development Agenda – “The Future We Want.
