Overview
About Me
A German with a daft sense of humour living in England.
Philosophy: Everybody carries around some emotional crap of which we don't know anything, so always try to be kinder than you think is necessary.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Mainly to meet people when travelling.
Interests
History and philosophy of science, particularly the historical intersections between science and magic. I published quite a bit on these things and am currently working on my first book.
Music used to be an important part of my life, I play guitar and used to compose stuff whenever I had time - which is not often these days.
I also love to cook and am world-famous for my mapo tofu.
Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: Don't even get me started. Anything ranging from clever horror movies (but also certain deliberately daft slasher flicks) to Monty Python.
Music: Rock, Jazz, Classical. All possible kinds, periods and varieties of those. Play me any piece with sequences of F minor, D major and E major, and I will start weeping. Instantly.
Books: I don't even remember the last time I read fiction. In terms of non-fiction, I have increasingly come to adore William James.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My trip to New Zealand in 2011 was a proper eye-opener, followed by China in 2016. Two years later I fell heads over heels in love with Taiwan and come back whenever I can.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can show you the odd chord on the guitar, plus I have a few cool (no, really!) facts from the history of science, involving famous scientists and ghosts, as well as generally spooky stuff. :)
Countries I’ve Lived In
Germany, United Kingdom
