Overview
About Me
I'm a 20-something who likes to travel DIY, backpacker-style. I've been all over the Philippines and to several countries in Southeast Asia. I'm slowly trying to travel the world, one paycheck at a time.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I think the whole point of going to a new place is getting to know the people and really immersing yourself in the culture of that place. What better way to do that than to live with the people from the place, right?
Interests
Theater, books, boardgames, dogs, mountains, museums, music, any kind of art really
Music, Movies, and Books
Jazz. I love jazz. Jazz is awesome. So is world music. Musicians who are willing to teach their type of music are always welcome to stay. Indie/folk music is also something I listen to a lot. I'm not religious at all but I have a special place in my heart for choir music (since the steoreotype is that choir music is for religious purposes only, but it's actually not). Books--I'm a compulsive reader and I have tons of books at home that surfers can have an all-access pass to. Movies--not a big fan of action movies or comedy-parody movies but I'm into a lot of indie films, both local and foreign. Those intellectually elitist, high-brow, snobbish types of films? Yep, love those. However, I have a guilty pleasure: romcom movies. I know, I know. It makes me feel guilty too. Maybe that's why it's called guilty pleasure.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The view at the top of Philippine mountains is just...ugh. It's beyond words. Makes you feel grateful to be alive.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach Filipino recipes and Philippine languages (I know another one aside from Tagalog). I can talk with you about anything under the sun; we can talk about art, politics, world affairs, travel tips, the LGBT experience, the Dalai Lama, the price of tomatoes, elephants, anything. In return maybe you can teach me your own language because I love learning languages, or maybe teach me how to cook your native dishes or how to play your native music.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Good conversation, language lessons, travel tips/hacks, awesome stories, and pasalubong (translates to gift/token) from the Philippines
