About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To unite Europe!

ABOUT ME

A very energetic and spontaneous guy from the most beautiful city north of the South Pole, Bergen!

Love to travel (as does anyone here I suppose), love to meet new people and love challenges. Someone asked if I had commitment issues because I simply cannot sit still and stay in one place to long :D Just moved in with my beautiful girlfriend Katarina, and together we enjoy the beauties of Brussels.

My daily occupation is as the Digital Communications Coordinator for Bruegel - the Brussels-based think-tank.

PHILOSOPHY

My freedom ends where your begin. Let's use that freedom for what it's worth and avoid sitting in a retirement home regretting all the things we never did!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host as often as possible and surf whenever I'm travelling. It's the only way to live!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted people since 2007 and have by now probably hosted around 500 people. Whenever I travel I try to use CouchSurfing as often as someone will offer me a couch, which, fortunately, is fairly often :)

My old profile was closed because I was inactive for an extended period (long time ago now).

Interests

I'm a bit odd and nerdy in my interests I suppose.

I love reading and learning more than anything. You will always see me with my Kindle or tablet wherever I go. Typically, I read about politics, history, science and future technologies, which are my four great pools of knowledge and passionate interest, but I'd love to hear your suggestion for a good book.

Of course I love travelling like everyone here, but I try to do it a bit crazier and a bit wilder than most. Hitch-hiking, train-jumping and bicycling are on my favourite list of ways to travel.

I also have a keen interest in football and beer, but I think we'll get along even if you're not into that.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: This is England, American History X, Goodbye Lenin.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Only one? No!

I have spent that last 8 years travelling the beautiful continent of Europe. In that time I have had beer in Belgium, seen Barcelona play in Spain, spat from the top of the Eiffel tower in France, bathed in the Black Sea in Bulgaria, hung on the outside of a train at full speed in Romania, slept in a park in Italy, planked the Berlin Wall in Germany, protested against Lukashenko in Belarus. The list goes on forever.

I think the most amazing experience was the summer of 2011 when I quit my job and my apartment, left all my money and my phone at home, went down to the road and hitch-hiked around Europe for 3 months, making money as I went. 4000 kilometres later I came home and I will never be the same again!

Teach, Learn, Share

This is a bit odd, but I'm an expert on the European Union, European Politics and European History, as well as most things to do with technology. So if you're interested in that I guess I can share a lot.
