I'm a medicine student. My dream is to become a good doctor and travel around the world helping people as a doctor but especially with my empathy. I love spending time with other people and with my friends, but sometimes it is crucial for me to spend some time alone, to create a mental void and have the opportunity to see things from a different point of view.
On the other hand I really enjoy talking with other people and sharing ideas and experiences. I'm really interested in what other people have to say, especially because it offers me other points of view. Once I used to be really strict with myself, I used to be really prissy and so on... Now I feel that I'm changed. I have still a prissy part inside of me, because it is part of my personality, but I'm more free and open minded.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love visiting new places and meeting new people and spend time with them. Getting in touch with a new city or a new place and the people who live there is for me exciting somehow. I think that every person has something that can share with others.
I still live with my parents and my brothers in the middle of nowhere, far from the city, this is the reason why I can't host couch surfers. I am really sad about that... I'm looking forward to start working, leave home and pay me the rent, so I will be able to host couch surfers!

Interests

My favorite hobby is to find activities that can distract me from studying. I love reading books and playing the piano. I am quite good at knitting and some times I try to paint, but rarely with good results. I have a passion for poetry and ancient Greek authors. I usually do not go to concerts but to the opera.
I love traveling, alone or with my friends, but I always like meeting new people during my travels.
I am fond of nature. I like having walks through the woods or on the mountains, swimming in the sea, in the lake or in a river. I feel at home in uncontaminated places. I am planning with my younger brother (who has a big obsession for The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, which is a film partly set in Iceland) to travel to Iceland, which really seems to be a paradise of fire, water and rocks.
I love wine (one of my secret, but not so secret, dreams is to get the sommelier license) and some times I smoke cigars. I hope in my future I'll be an expert in wine and cigars, but I'll have to taste a lot of wines and a lot of cigars.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't have a favorite song, a favorite book or a favorite film. Now I'm in my "Virginia Woolf period". I find her novels amazing.
Other authors I really appreciate are Tolstoj, Sylvia Plath, Emily Dickinson, Antonia Pozzi, Hemingway, Kahlil Gibran, Alice Munro.
I usually listen to the Mumford & Sons, Kings of Convenience, Noah and The Whale, Lumineers, Of Monsters and Men, and Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Queen, Led Zeppelin... But usually I listen to music just when I drive my car.
My favorite opera is "Le nozze di figaro", by Mozart. Until now I've seen (live show) Le nozze di figaro (at Zurich Opera House), Die Zauberflote (Mozart again), Madama Butterfly (Puccini) and Rigoletto (Verdi).
I love Wes Anderson's films and Breakfast at Tiffany. In this period I'm trying to watch french films in the original language (with subtitles!)... like "Le premiere jour de rest de ma vie", "17 filles".
I have a strange passion for "The Hunt for Red October" with Sean Connery and Alec Baldwin. I'd watch this film again and again. I don't know why, it is definitely not my genre.
