About Me

I would describe myself as social, kind, curious, outgoing (although I do have my more introvert moments, especially after the occasional night of partying ;)), openminded, fairly modest, considerate, emphatic, easygoing and fun to hang out with. I like to think I have a good sense of humor and I love to have a good laugh.

Keyword: wanderlust. I love to explore whilst traveling the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am always keen on meeting people from all over the world to learn about their passions and interests and to exchange information about our cultures and countries. It would also be a great opportunity to learn/practice other languages!

Couch surfing: as a couch surfer I would be very interested in experiencing life through the eyes of a local and I would love to get to know my hosts a little bit better, although I would understand if the host didn't have time for long chats or to show me around/hang out.

Hosting: I am more than willing to share any knowledge I have about Amsterdam and to show you where to go. Time permitting, we could hang out together or I could show you around the city if you wish. Or in case you're basically just looking for a place to crash: no problem :-).
I know some hosts firmly believe couch surfing is much more than just a free couch to crash on and although this is certainly true, to me -as a host- I think it all depends on the expectations and plans of both parties. Sometimes I might not have a lot of time myself and sometimes the couch surfer has other plans due to limited time. So as much as I would like to get to know you a little bit better, I would understand if interacting all the time isn't your highest priority.

Interests

Biggest passions: traveling, writing, photography, beach time, summer festivals, reading, nature, animals, sunshine, horse riding through the countryside and on the beach, laughing my ass off with like minded friends, cooking and having dinner, drinks and parties with my loved ones.

Other interests: languages, history, culture, wine and beer tastings, food and wine pairings, books, music, series, (cult) movies, documentaries, yoga, (beach) volleyball, playing cards and other social games.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I like many different styles (Pink Floyd being my all time favourite). Not into R&B or rap though. A few more names to give you an idea: Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Muse, Kings of Leon, Live, etc.

Books: The kite runner, A thousand splendid suns, The secret history, Extremely loud and incredibly close, The Alchemist and The shadow of the wind, to name a few. I love reading travel stories/travel blogs as well.

Movies: Habla con Ella, V for Vendetta, Magnolia, The Usual Suspects, Reservoir Dogs, Amélie, Intouchable, Dead Poets Society and many more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have traveled solo through South America for six months and loved it! One of the most memorable experiences I've had (and there are many, I can assure you): volunteering at La Senda Verde, a wildlife rescue centre in the jungle of Bolivia. I still miss it every day...

What I Can Share with Hosts

That obviously depends on their interests, but I could start with sharing travel stories, life experiences and background on my country and culture. :-) I could cook them a nice meal if they'd like and I could also teach them some Dutch or English if they wish!
