About Me
Hey Couchsurfers,
My name is Eva and I am in the mid twentys. I grew up in southwest Germany, very close to the french border but moved to Köln about three and a half years ago for studying. In about two years I hope to finish my Master of Education and become a special education teacher.
In 2009 I lived with a hostfamily about half a year in Cromwell, New Zealand and attended school there. Beside holidays with my family around Europe, this was the first time I experienced another "way of life". After I finished school, I worked as a volunteer for the Family and Children section in a Mental Health Center in Alabama, United States of America.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I believe Couchsurfing is a great invention! I love traveling and Couchsurfing combines many of my interests:
Being in touch with locals always helps finding special spots and getting off the tourist route. And of course I enjoy getting to know the culture and "habits" while exchanging thoughts and interests with locals. That is what I appreciate most.
Interests
Like pretty much everyone I love being around the people I like. In summer, we often hang out in parcs, at the waterside of the Rhein (which is a 5 Minutes walk from my home!) or just sit on the balcony. I also love pubs and enjoy having a cold Kölsch (special kind of beer which is only brewed in Köln) in the evening.
In winter time we often have gaming nights or cook or bake together.
A great passion of mine is soccer. Since I was a little child my heart is beating for 1. FC Kaiserslautern, the local soccer club of the region I grew up. Whenever Kaiserslautern plays, you can find me in a pub or at the football stadium itself (unless I am traveling...).
I also am a passionate knitter. Whenever I find some time, I grab some needles and handdyed yarn, turn on a talking book and start knitting socks, sweaters, cowls or shawls.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Skydiving. (have a look at my profil picture)
Since I love outdoor activities, I have done many amazing things during my time in New Zealand. Highlights were the Kepler Track, a four day tramp offering the most beautiful view on forests, fjords and cascades and of course Skydiving in Queenstown ;)
