About Me

"To see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, to draw closer, to find each other and to feel. That this is the purpose of ‘Life'" (from "The secret life of Walter Mitty)

I'm truly, madly, deeply in love with life and always curious for what will happen next. I love exploring about everything and like questioning boundaries, especially those set by convention and in our own minds. I consider myself to be a lifelong learner and am thankful for each experience life allows me to make.

I'm enthusiastic about almost anything and like enjoying life.
Music and books are my passion - I've started working on a CS playlist that includes songs I associate with my CS guests and hosts. So I would love to know which are your favourite pieces of music :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

What matters most to me are meaningful connections with other people from all over the world, getting to know each other more than just on a superficial level. Exploring different cultures and learning about different ways of living, thinking and perceiving the world are what I love most about life. And I'm happy to share mine.
For me, Couchsurfing has been the perfect opportunity to actually do this, so I am very excited about it. I've thoroughly enjoyed the experience I've made here so far and I've met the most amazing people both hosting and surfing :)

It's actually been a while since I last engaged in couchsurfing actively, but the time has finally come that I'm traveling through the US this March and April. Super excited about this.

So here I am, curious about meeting you :)

Interests

I love....
.... connecting with people and experiencing the world from their point of view

.... good food (preparing and eating it) - I've had the most amazing dinners with some of my CS guests and friends and I intend to keep up this tradition :)

.... personal growth

.... living life to the fullest

Music, Movies, and Books

There are so many of them that I'll just choose some that mean a lot to me (of course, this is changing constantly):

Books:
Anything by Neil Gaiman, Rilke, Jonathan S. Foer, Wolfgang Herrndorf, Hermann Hesse, Nick Hornby; also, in particular: "The Book thief" by Markus Zusak, "Die Erfindung des Lebens" by Hanns-Josef Ortheil, "The hitchhiker's guide through the galaxy" by Douglas Adams, "Der Vorleser" by Bernhard Schlink....and also the complete Harry Potter series; also I've been reading a lot of spiritual literature recently, such as Richard Rohr, Henri Nouwen, Simone Weil

Movies:
"Der Himmel über Berlin", "The book thief", "The reader", "Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind ", "Cloud Atlas", "The man who cried", "Interstellar," "Her", "The secret life of Walter Mitty", "Limitless"

Music:
Anything that touches me, whether pop, rock, indie, hip hop, jazz or classical music;
One of my most favourite artists at the moment is Hozier.

My favourite classical music of all times is everything played by Glenn Gould, above all his interpretations of Mozart, Bach and Beethoven.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Faced and survived open heart surgery

Left the safe and comfortable life I had been used to behind to go all in as a freelancer on the job I love

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe in lifelong learning and while doing so, I hope to inspire other people and help them find their inner sparkle (you just gotta ignite the light and let it shine...:)).

For the past couple of years, I've been engaging in communication a lot and I am a teacher of German as a second language.

I'm glad to help out with anything you might need assistance with if I can.

I welcome any kind of inspiration myself :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm happy to share my enthusiasm about life and almost anything new. I'd love to learn more about you and take part in your life and the things that matter to you.
Otherwise I'm pretty self sufficient and don't need much, but I'm happy to engage in joint activities if my plans allow.
