About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Making new friends and thinking about a lot of future travel!

ABOUT ME

I'm from Australia but am currently living in San Diego on a working visa. I love California more than I ever imagined I would and I never want to leave but I think that's impossible :( anyway I've travelled just a little around the States (California, Seattle, Vegas, Colorado, Texas) and am looking forward to spreading my wings and seeing a bit more of this fine country!

I've learnt a lot about myself since starting my travels, one thing being that I can be quite shy but also really outgoing, but I have definitely grown in confidence since leaving home! I love being around people and socializing and making new friends, but I believe solitude can be bliss at the right time and I'm not afraid to do things by myself (always more fun with company though!).

I love talking to strangers, reading (but not at home), swimming, Vegemite (yes it's because I am Australian I can't not love it!), I like to try new foods but I am always sold on shrimp and turkey. I love having stereotypical American experiences and doing things I wouldn't be able to do if I were just quickly traveling through.

I've found people in America are super friendly in general and I've been welcomed with open arms as a whole which I am so grateful for! I know I've made some lifelong friends here which makes my whole experience amazing.

PHILOSOPHY

I think that everything happens for a reason, and that something good can come out of any situation. For me things pretty much have to be seen to be believed, so I'm a strong believer in science over anything else. Despite this I do maintain an open mind, and love to hear about others' philosophies and understanding of how the world works. I have spent many an evening debating and sharing these, even better over a glass of wine!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I mostly utilize Couchsurfing as a way to make friends in the area (some of my closest friends here have been made through the site!), get advice from locals as well as give advice to new people in town. My roommates haven't ever been involved in Couchsurfing so Ive only hosted a couple of times since I've been in San Diego, but I'm working on it as I'd really like to! I recently attended the Boulder Couch Crash in Colorado, which was easily one of the best weekends of my life and i made some great friends, then I continued on to Austin, Texas, where I couch surfed with a few different hosts. I had the best time and made lifelong friends!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

See above!
I had a couple of Belgians stay at my house when i was at home in Australia, but since moving to San Diego I have utilized couchsurfing as a great way to meet people, share advice, hear stories and it is full of great, helpful people. I love it!

Interests

Socializing
Good quality beer (though my finances mean I can't always reflect this in my drink choices)
Live music (not enough of this where I live!)
Going to sporting games (I frequent Aussie Rules football games when at home)

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite movie is Inglorious Basterds, but I also love anything with Ben Stiller, and I can't forget the masterpiece that is Anchorman!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived at home with my parents my whole life until I packed and moved to the US of A, so it was a huge step especially considering this is my first time living out of home and can't run back to my parents house for a home cooked meal or to do laundry...so for me that's a big thing and I'll always be proud of that!
I recently went camping in 110 degree weather in Texas. It might not seem like much but it was certainly a challenge!

My whole American experience has been amazing!

Travel-wise, Borneo is amazing and held some of the beautiful sights I've ever seen!

Vegas is something else and I think that place is a sight to see!

I have a lot to see in America and I can't wait, but for now I am saving to head out and fill my brain with amazing memories!

Teach, Learn, Share

Watch an Aussie Rules football game with me and I will expose you to the apparent enigma that is Australia's national sport!
