ABOUT ME

Hi! I am Eva, a 29 year old architect from Ghent, Belgium. In November 2019, I quit my job in order to exchange the computer work for the freedom of travel, and I am loving it. I have one rule: no airplanes or cruise ships. So far, I sailed from Europe to the Caribbean and currently I'm exploring the Lesser Antilles.

I consider myself an open minded, enthusiastic and eneretic person. I love to be around other people, but I can also appreciate a bit of time on my own. Some things that I like: hiking, animals, working with my hands, campfires, chocolate (preferably Belgian, of course). Some things I don't like: racism, mosquitos, warm banana, airplanes, Donald Trump. I don't play an instrument, but I love music and I love to sing. I've always wanted a dog, but so far never had one. To my great regret, I'm allergic to cats. I would say I'm an average chef, but I really enjoy cooking for other people and up till now my friends never had any complaints. In general, I try to be an optimistic and contributing person in life.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Encouraged by family and friends, I tried couchsurfing a couple of times while travelling and only had very good experiences. It's the perfect way to dive into the local life and make friends all over the world. I'm a fan!

Interests

It is quite obvious that I am passionate about architecture, and more specifically about sustainable ways of building and living. When my travels are finished, I'm not sure if I want to go back to my desk job. I would like to do something with the knowledge I gain while travelling and maybe one day start my own little architecture company... But lets explore the world a bit more first!
Since I discovered sailing in the beginning of my trip, I'm developing a deep love for the ocean and the art of sailing. I would love to learn more about it and let the sailor within me mature.
