About Me

CURRENT MISSION

After having spent five months in Belgium (with a lot of Couchsurfing)
... back in Wien to enjoy the flavour of the big, wide world with Couchsurfing,
to learn and to discuss with open-minded people
and ... to entertain angels (and other sorts of Couchsurfers)

ABOUT ME
I have a lot of different interests: culture and cultures, cultural anthropology, psychology, politics, sustainability, migration, gardening and seed saving, wood carving, religion and spirituality and others.
Singing, dancing and hiking are my favorite activities to relax and to express myself.
I am a passionate teacher - for German as a foreign language, reading and writing and maths - and I passionately celebrate my weekend and free time.
I have just been doing 5 months of further training to be a clinical psychologist in Belgium/Eupen. After 3 weeks of teaching German as a Foreign Language, I will be going back to my normal job in Austria - teaching very nice, funny, motivated young refugees in German, maths, geography etc.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
by being hosted and hosting, maybe angels...who knows

Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
(... yes, this is a bible quote (Heb 13,2) ...)

FOR REQUESTS:
I am happy to host open-minded, non racist people who are interested in the idea of CS (meeting and discussing with locals, being interested in their view of the place), no one is just looking for a cheap way of travelling.
Please no requests from people thinking that Europeans are more intelligent than Africans (yes, I have had this with CS, surprisingly).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I hosted quite a few couchsurfers from different countries since 2012 in Wien - a very enriching experience for me.
Between 03 and 07 / 2015, in Belgium I discovered being hosted - a great possibility to get deeper in contact with a country and learn more about it.

Interests

migration, post colonial studies, gardening, singing (Klezmer, Ancient Music, Classical Music; and political songs with my Ex-Yugo choir HOR 29 Novembar), music, dancing, demonstrating (with and without my choir), wood carving, travelling, reading, family research

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent almost 7 months on fantastic Réunion island in the Indian Ocean, working as language assistant - without working too much, but having a lot of holidays where I discovered the great landscape, culture, music, people of La Réunion (highlight: servis kabaré and an interview with a political activist) and the surrounding islands (most beloved: Rodrigues!)

One more: celebrating my school friend Martin's Wedding in Oslo - my first gay wedding experience ... so nice, so moving, ceremony on the boat in Oslofjord, partying at Snohetta office! Great!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my experiences of my trips (Indian Ocean, Europe, Armenia) and my work with refugees and immigrants: I would like to improve my English, French, Greek and Créole Réunionnais.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My experiences of travelling in various countries, my experience in teaching German as a foreign language, my experience with working in the field of psychology / and working with - doing political work with refugees and immigrants, my knowledge of Wien (incl. specialities like jewish Vienna ;)

IMPORTANT for requests:
I am happy to host open-minded, non racist people who are interested in the idea of CS (meeting and discussing with locals, being interested in their view of the place), no one is just looking for a cheap way of travelling.
Please no one who thinks that Europeans are more intelligent Africans (yes, I have had this with CS, surprisingly), and for economists and economy students: please only those with an alternative approach to economical questions.
