About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Currently in China doing the teaching English thing :D I love living in Changsha ... I love Hunan food, and I learn so much from the people. I am super down to meet and travelers or locals. I tend to love CS people like old friends so I'm always down to meet up.
ABOUT ME
I'm a teacher in China now, but formerly a film student and newspaper designer in Austin, TX, USA. I studied journalism and latin american studies in college. I love cooking and learning and watching new (to me) movies. I'm currently trying to learn Chinese :D
PHILOSOPHY
im still working out a life philosophy, it's ever changing with new experiences. i never say never (unless in this sense!), i don't like to leave good vibes, i cannot predict the future at any given time (i live more on a whim) i think you should treat people the way they would want to be treated.
basically i just care a lot about other people...i like to let people know that i am an easy going person, and i really believe that every person is inherently good, we are all human, some people just need to be reminded
I try to follow the Definite Dozen, ask me all about it!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am open to meeting people! I have had hosts from the CS site and through friends, and have met folks in Cuba, Houston, Mexico City, Merida, DC.. I have also hosted whenever possible for the past few years. I have been to some great CS events in different cities since 2008, and I have always had a blast. Another role I have in CS is advocating for its use and purpose. We have all experienced shock and awe (parents am i right?) at the sheer thought of randomly meeting (and sleeping on a couch of) a STRANGER... but alas, we are bred off fear, at least in my observation of the culture i grew up in... so I am constantly explaining to people that CS is a good thing... it just takes a little experience and trust in your judgement.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've surfed and hosted, met some awesome people... Tigre Camping 08 in Buenos Aires was one of the best experiences! Most CS experiences have involved engaging conversation, good food and drink, music, dancing, and fun times.
Interests
meeting people who i can learn from. it´s been a real comfort to know that no matter where i go, i can find someone i can relate to and laugh with. Im interested in knowing as many people and places as possible. I'm also interested in creating a better world, and I feel like CS is a perfect example of ACTION, real trust and optimism, networks functioning to create community ... CS restores one's faith in humanity :)
