About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live it well.

ABOUT ME

.About me
I am a Canadian/Czech living in the US, who grew up on the shores of the St. Lawrence River. I have traveled a ton, but I am increasingly drawn to community and roots. Saying this, I still find myself ‘moving’ from place to place a lot. My work involves travel and so (regardless of the fact that I adopted a dog as ‘anti-travel’ insurance), I am often on the move. I am pretty spontaneous (moved to Thailand on a whim at age 19) and I love both big and small adventures alike. I really enjoy keeping busy (born socialite!!), but I also often need a good Sunday recharge with the New York Times & the CBC. I guess friends would call me an energetic-optimist that feeds off of good energy?
FYI- I am trying to become more of a badass skier & I like projects/challenges such as beekeeping, getting to point B in the shortest amount of time and making grumpy people laugh. Love people....really love cooking/sharing good food/drink with great people.

PHILOSOPHY

Get out there. Go big. Take it slow through the magic of the periphery. Waste no time and then waste a lot of it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As I mentioned above, I have done a lot of traveling (both for personal reasons and for work). In the really early years, all I knew was the backpacker scene. I got over this pretty quickly and found CS as a great alternative. All of my Couchsurfing experiences have since been amazing!! I travel because I want to get to know a place and it’s people. I want to learn about local realities both grim and optimistic. I have graciously been hosted all throughout Latin America, the US, the Middle East & in remote parts of my Canadian homeland. Highlights include an eclectic artist mansion in New Orleans, La Lucha in DF, scuba adventures in Eilat & impromptu rooftop dance parties in Colombia.

I also really enjoy being a host. Having guests helps me travel without traveling. Learn a new something or two. Meet a few amazing and inspiring characters: 1) Richard, 72 year old Guantanamo protestor 2) a full fusion band from SD 3) poets and the not so poetic as well. All are welcome.

I am very easy going. As a surfer or a host, I am always happy to join in activities or do my own thing. Happy to swap stories and always excited to learn something new!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I think that I answered this above, but I think that I have been a ‘member’ for over 9 years. I have surfed, hosted and just plain met some rad people through CS (props out to the Buffalo crew)!

Interests

I once made a joke that I am a generalist. I know a lot about everything, but not too much about anything. I like a lot of diverse stuff!
I am pretty active and so I do a lot of hiking, biking, running, skiing and playing volleyball.
I love to cook, but mostly eat. I love meeting new people and getting out in the community. I love art projects and event planning. I love my garden and getting my hands dirty. Getting lost to find things. Stories and obscure community festivals. Did I say bacon? Experiential education and working with young adults.
