About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Peace and chaos, simultaneously, and if you know what I mean, than I think I like you.

ABOUT ME

It's never easy distilling yourself in this way without artifice and a debilitating self-consciousness. So fuck it.
It is 6am and I've just biked home through the rising sun. I am in my bed, contemplating the jar of Nutella I stupidly left in the room. No! Be strong.
Also contemplating writing into the dawn, but then there's that brunch I have to make, and god I love brunch. They serve it buffet-style in Berlin, no one told me that. I want to say it is my favorite discovery here, but I say that a lot. I am really happy here, now, and I hope to carry at least the remnants of this peace in my heart forever.

PHILOSOPHY

I like to think it is live and let live, but perhaps that is more of my mountain-apex philosophy, and I'm still at its valley.
Honestly, it is honesty. I love niceness and nice people, but I like honesty even more, and had I to sacrifice one for the other, I would always choose the latter.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Brand new to this! But guys, I'm nice, I swear.

Interests

If you're interesting and interested, I will find interest in you. (Someone that feels they can meet this criteria but works in finance, please call me right now, I want you to collapse my stereotypes.)
I tend to gravitate towards literature and art, music of course but that is like saying one takes an interest in oxygen. I love structurally explosive writing and abstract expressionistic paintings, but mostly I love people that take the tools we've regurgitated a million times through and create something out of them that makes me think and feel and live just a fraction more intensely, even for a moment.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There are monumental joys and there are everyday joys, and I believe they are almost the same. I once climbed collapsing stone steps for 6 hours until I rose a kilometer in altitude and overlooked the path that wound down and the people like ants scaling up it. It was in the mountains of Peru, and their tips disappeared into the clouds, and us with them. This was a monumental joy, and a knowledge I will never be able to relieve that moment.
But that is the joy I feel every time I bike home at dawn in the silent streets, or lie down underneath a green tree in the breeze.

Teach, Learn, Share

Other than teaching people how to open beers in dark alleys with a shoe?
I don't feel like an expert in anything at all, but I am passionate about a lot of things that I would gladly discuss and, depending on your own knowledge, you might learn from.
I am a writer and editor, and have grown up reading as I breathed. So, I love this, and love talking incredible authors/books.
I am also really into visual arts, photography but especially painting. I wrote for an art magazine here in Berlin and try to go to exhibits on a regular basis.
I can also bake this carrot and red wine dish that will make you punch yourself in the face.
I would love to learn more about art, graphic design, illustration, web programming, film. Many more things too, but I just thought of those faster.
