About Me
!I'm currently travelling and surfing with my girlfriend: https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/thaismmarques
We will be very grateful to anyone willing to host this Brazilian-Latvian couple =)
About me personally:
I'm a free spirit working my way through the existential struggle, one day at a time, my main drive being music and connecting with people, oftentimes complimenting each other.
Travelling has been very inspirational for me - the more I open up, the more the world opens up to me.
I'm a romantic and a sceptic, even if that's a contradiction; I find beauty in the small things, but I don't believe it can last - or rather - it only lasts as long as you keep rediscovering and reinventing it.

Music, Movies, and Books
I grew up listening mostly to rock music from 70s like Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd to 80s and 90s like Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains and Marylin Manson. But in the recent years my musical interests have greatly expanded and include blues (which has had a hold on me ever since I started playing harmonica), jazz and others: Muddy Waters, Paul Butterfield, Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, to name just a few musicians.
Music has always had a very special place in my life, like an imaginary friend thats always there for you.
As for books, I read a fair variety, but I don't like categorizing books by genre because what I appreciate most about them are stories and ideas, not the setting, be it historical, fantasy, sci-fi; fictional or nonfictional.
Some of the writers who's books have influenced me, in no particular order: George Orwell, Joseph Heller, James Gleick, David Mitchell, Alexandre Duma, George R. R. Martin, Alfie Kohn, Douglas Adams, Thomas Harris, Joseph Conrad, Marcus Aurelius, Patrick Rothfuss, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Oscar Wilde, Henry David Thoreau, Stephen King, Kurt Vonnegut, Solomon Northup, Richard Adams.
Similarly to reading, story and ideas behind movies and TV series are what I appreciate most, so unsurprisingly the movies I like most are often - but not always - based on good books that I haven't read, for example: American Psycho; Requiem for a Dream; The Godfather; Schindler's List; Twelve Monkeys; Into the Wild; Amelie; The Lord of the Rings. A couple of TV series that from recent years that I've really enjoyed are Penny Dreadful and The Knick.
